The premise of Used Guys is fairly clever, with honest-to-God social observation and metaphor behind it. Set in a matriarchal society in which male clones are bought and sold like used cars...wait a minute, this sounds like The Island. The story revolves around two guys (Ben Stiller, Jim Carrey) who somehow cut themselves loose from the assemby line and try to sort out what being a man has come down to. Emily Mortimer will costar as Stiller's love interest. (Carrey is going stag?) The only cautionary -- okay, disappointing -- note in this 20th Century Fox pic, which stars shooting in June, is that Jay Roach (Meet the Fockers/Parents, the Austin Powers films) is directing. That means Used Guys is guaranteed to be right down the middle. It'll be hip and smart, and it may be funny or very funny or even marginally touching, but it'll be right down the middle...you know what I mean.

The script is great, funny, and clever. If shot as is, it will make 200 million and spawn a shitty sequel.

In a matriarchal society, male clones would not look like Ben Stiller or Jim Carrey. They would look like Chris Noth and Anderson Cooper. I don't know one woman, but if I did, I would bet that they wouldn't find Ben Stiller attractive. The guy is like the 21rst Century George Segal/Elliot Gould, a techno-putz. He makes 25 million dollars per movie and the best he can do is a Marcia Brady impersonator. The day Ben Stiller is seen within potato pancake-throwing distance of Sienna Miller is the day I believe any woman would want his genes replicated. And Jim Carrey is even less attractive than Ben Stiller, who, now that I think about it, might be attractive to any woman who likes to be with men they consider "projects," i.e., men who need a new haircut and new shoes. Renee Zellweger seemed to like Jim Carrey but then again she also married a small gay cowboy. In a matriarchal society Lee Horsely would be an icon. But I'm happy to hear that Don Simpson is still alive and well. Used Clones. Very high concept. I'm sure it took two guys sitting in the Sunset Coffee Bean over two years to come up with that one. I bet they both have goatees. One of them is probably driving a Porsche as I write this. Maybe one day he will run me over and it will be my fault because I shouldn't be trying to cross the street while he's making a right hand turn.

The joke of the script is that Ben Stiller's character is a douchebag. He's designed for insecure women that want a "best friend" and someone to be sensitive. There's a reason he's returned in the opening scene, as is Jim Carrey's character.

And you sound like a bitter fuck.

What tipped you off that I sounded like a bitter fuck? You're reading comprehension is scintillating. I don't know whose more of a creep. Me for having no life and posting a comment on this site about this item or you for reading my comment and then feeling the need to half-explain the plot of this film or me for commenting on your comment of my comment.

And you sound like you have a goatee.

Time for a veggie burger and soup.

Ciao!
