Don't quite get your panties in a bunch, Mr. Wells. This film is probably three years from being made and since Spielberg seems to be at that "I'm still at break but I'm about to go on an ungodly directing tear again" with a succession of films (kind of like before A.I.) I could see him making at least two, perhaps even three films before this one. You've got to wonder how much Spielberg really wants anything to do with Indy 4 at this point--Lucas is jerking the whole world off with it and if Paramount really wants another couple of big moneymakers from Spielberg, then maybe he could convince them that this is their best option and Indy 4 should be left unborn (that's my own hope at least, however unlikely at this juncture).

I think this brings up an interesting point. How commercially viable *is* Indy 4 anymore? It seems to me that, according to the last several Harrison Ford flicks, the last thing most people in the real world want to see anymore of is Ford pretending to be fifteen years or so younger and still able to kick bad guy's asses. There's an Internet-driven demand for thsi film but there was an Internet-driven demand for Howard Dean and we all saw how that panned out.

Anyway, this sci-fi thing looks and sounds interesting... maybe somewhere between A.I. for thoughtfulness and War of the Worlds for visceral impact...?

Keep in mind what those last several Harrison Ford flicks were: forgettable bores like Six Days, Seven Nights, or Firewall. The fact those films grossed as much as they did probably illustrates audience's wish that Ford would give a shit again. Indiana Jones is iconic, and if Ford and Spielberg return and give us a film worth returning for, then the profits would be huge.
