Props to N.Y. Times columnist David Carr for not just sticking it to arch-conservative "hate-monger" Ann Coulter in the usual way...hah!

When you look at the actual numbers of books sold, you understand instantly why Coulter says what she says. Those aren't big numbers when you look at what the rest of the conservative literary types sell.

She's just a bomb throwing cunt who can't back up most of what she says and when confronted with the facts refuses to admit she had it wrong (Al Franken had a great soundbite with her on a Canadian talk show where she got caught telling a lie about Canadians going to Vietnam).

Her basic MO is to use her training as a lawyer to both avoid the truth when it will hurt her while at the same time avoiding telling a "legal" lie.

Even many of us who call ourselves conservatives step two feet back from the line that is Ann Coulter. There is a difference between telling the truth about a matter (which I believe she sometimes does) and wrapping it in barb wire and launching it at one's self-styled opponents (which she does all the time). Hate on either side, left or right, just isn't helpful.

Probably the minority though. Your right about hate, it isn't helpful, unless you're trying to win an election. Thats why the GOP is so much better at it, they know how to use hate.
