The current heat waves all over the country, with many areas affected by tempeatures of 100 degrees-plus and with most meterologists saying the heat will continue well into the coming week, have nothing to do with global warming. It just gets really hot in mid-July... that's all. Enough with the anti-free-choice, anti-American-way-of-life crap propaganda being spread around by Al Gore and the pinko lefties at Paramount Vantage. Just turn on the a.c., pop open a cool one, turn on the tube and chill.

Typhoon is owned by Brian Vidor, son of director Charles Vidor (Love Me or Leave Me, Gilda, Cover Girl) who wasn't related to King Vidor. Pic snapped on Saturday, 7.15, 10:15 pm.

Did anyone notice in that article Jeff linked to about Miami Vice the other day that many of their production problems were related to climate problems? It sounds like they were hit by several hurricanes. Sounds like global warming is no friend of Michael Mann.

I love how many politicians ignore global warming and the potentially catastrophic effects because its not in the financial interests of the businesses who lobby them. Great quote used in Gore's movie:

Hey, if Gore wants to raise awareness about global warming, great...but complaining about heat in July, sarcastically or not, is fucking hysterical, in both the funny and paranoid senses. Get a grip.

Why not link to some prominent outpoken people, ones with actual degrees in the field, who AGREE the earth is warming but DISAGREE that we are much at fault or that there is anything we can do about it. And then there's the whole matter of Gore's blatant spin, to wit:

"More recently, a study in the journal Science by the social scientist Nancy Oreskes claimed that a search of the ISI Web of Knowledge Database for the years 1993 to 2003 under the key words "global climate change" produced 928 articles, all of whose abstracts supported what she referred to as the consensus view. Several actually opposed it.

It's really great how much Gore did for the environment and global warming while he spent 8 yrs in the White House, right? Wait.. he did nothing. Must be a HUGE problem.

I remember back in the early 70's. A huge warning about what? A New Ice Age. These alarmists are all quacks.

The vice-presidency isn't exactly an all-powerful position; there are, after all, two other branches of government to contend with, and, um, a president. During his years in office, Gore did a lot of environmental advocacy, including pushing hard for ratification of the Kyoto Treaty -- the Senate refused to go along.

(And, while we're at it: Let's say, for the sake of argument, that you're right, and Gore didn't do enough for the environment during his vice presidency. Why does that, in itself, justify our current inaction, or prove he's wrong? Isn't it possible that he was wrong before, and right now? Your argument is like trying to refute George W. Bush's argument that fighting global terrorism should be our number-one priority by pointing out that, if it's such a huge problem, he should have talked about it on the campaign trail in 2000. People's assessments of problems change over time, in response to external circumstances. And it's foolish to base an argument that a problem doesn't exist on the premise that, if it did exist, the person telling you about it should have mentioned it sooner.)
