"I'm so tired of thinking about myself...I'm kinda sick of myself," the 42 year-old Brad Pitt said on the "Today" show this morning. That's good....I like it when movie stars say stuff like that. He's not voicing despair (he's just starting to see beyond his personal crap so he can focus more on his kids), but it put me right into the opening lines of Bob Dylan's "Queen Jane Approximately" anyway. Being sick of yourself is a very healthy place to be -- a very significant philosophical touchstone. Because once you get there, you can then move on to someplace else.

Real sincere, Brad, real sincere.
Hey Jeff, this is something truly reflective people say in the privacy of their own homes, or more personal still, in their own heads. Don't be a sucker.

What an absolue tool! Maybe this douche bag should spend less time thinking about himself and more time reading the scripts he signs on to (if he can read). Talk about an array of turd: Troy, Oceans 11 and 12, Mr & Mrs Smith, The Mexican,Spy Game, Meet Joe Black. This no talent twat should be thanking his lucky stars he's tight with David Fincher!

First, unlike many of his peers Brad can read :)
I loved the version of the script I read for Mr & Mrs smith. What the hell happened? sigh. Anyway, at least he has charisma and the people I know who work with him, say he's a good person to deal with. No diva drama, None of that "don't look at me on set thing", that Tom Cruise does.
Also none of us knows why a relationship falls apart. I'm glad some of the obession with Jen/Jolie/Pitt has died down. Although I fear once they find Suri Cruise it will start up again.

Having kids does change your perspective a lot. Personally, I think it's one of the final steps into true adulthood. Perhaps the man was simply (gasp) being honest about his personal journey. Whether or not Pitt should have said it in an interview is another question.

I'm just glad he could read 12 MONKEYS, FIGHT CLUB, A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT, TRUE ROMANCE, KALIFORNIA, and (to a lesser extent) SNATCH, which put him above just about all of his peers.
I didn't see Mr. and Mrs. but I distinctly remember reading Doug Liman talking about David Fincher telling him that if you make a Brad Pitt movie, you make Brad Pitt's movie, or something like that. The implictaion being he wasn't THAT easy to work with. Maybe that's what "happened" to the original script?

C,
There was a nail. You had a hammer. You hit the nail straight on the head.
Truely reflective people do not announce what they think. They just change their behavior gradually and gradually people notice the change.
This is more self awareness for the sake of everyone saying how enlightened Brad is.
Dime a dozen.
Even Jolie's 'UN work' seems more cut from the 'see how great I am' cloth than anything sincere.

But have they 'helped' anyone?
I don't mean in the esoteric 'they let the world here their cries sense'. I mean in the 'I now have a job thanks to Pitt and Jolie' sense.
If they have great. But I get the impression they are more like poseurs who like to have photos taken with emaciated African kids to show how great they are. No heart or soul required.
I hope I am wrong.

Sorry I have to respond to Nichol. I know for a fact Angelina gives 1/3 of her salary away to charity and has been for years. Who cares if they take some photos? I'm sure someone in the world has a job because of them, maybe some clean water, and there is a hospital and an orphange in Africa that have better medical equipement thanks to her.
People are damned if they don't give money/time to a cause greater than themselves and then when they do they are considered poseurs. She is actually informed about the issues she cares about and does a lot of work we never hear about.
I rather read about them in the news doing good works than britney saying how after the next baby she's coming back.

Why is he on the Today show. Because a year after Kathrina NOTHING has happen. People still have no homes. The media focused on the story for awhile but now there are new stories so the hell with the people of New Orleans. I thank people like Brad Pitt that come to New Orleans.
CCA you need to see the commentaries on the DVD of Mr and Mrs Smith to see why there was changes from the original scrip. It had nothing to do with Brad Pitt.

Hey CCA, I query whether u can read! I have no qualms with the Pitt/Fincher efforts. Did I not make this clear u twat!
12 MONKEYS = I'll pay that!
A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT = Boring, pretentious rubbish!
KALIFORNIA = Your kidding!
TRUE ROMANCE = I'll pay that but for plenty of reasons other than Pitt!
SNATCH = Give me a break! A remake of what had been done fine a year earlier.
That makes 4 out of plenty. Not a great batting average and your setting very low standards stacking him against his peers! Then again, anybody who rates A RIVER RUNS THROUGHT IT, KALIFORNIA AND SNATCH clearly has fairly low standards!
