Let the word go forth from this time and place to friend and foe alike, but particularly to Hollywood Elsewhere loyalists, that starting today & forever after everyone is going to have to register in order to post comments to articles. I've done it and it's a relatively quick and simple process. HE's webmaster Jon Rahoi tells me it's safe and anonymous -- you won't even have to leave your e-mail address. I had to do this because some moronic spammer posted 52,000 comments yesterday and shut down the reader-response capability for two or three hours.

I was kinda bummed with the sign in but it makes sense given the egregious spamming.
How about an edit comment feature now?

You gotta do what you gotta do. The comment spam problem keeps getting worse...it's either this or using CAPTCHAs, and this seems fine.

We love your noblest-Roman-of-them-all announcement: "Let the word go forth from this time and place to friend and foe alike ..."
You must have been watching Julius Caesar and Camelot over the weekend.

I am now registered. Anyway, spams are really so annoying to deal with. In the first place, spam comments can make the site looks like the surface of the moon.
