I guess we're never going to see any stills of Ben Affleck in that those old, clunky-looking TV series Superman suits he wears in Allen Coulter's Hollywoodland (Focus Features, 9.8). He wears them in two or three scenes -- the brown-and-gray tunic (worn when the show was shot in black and white) once, and once or twice in the brilliant red and blue outfit. There must be a prohibition in effect. I don't know why this is interesting, but here's an exclusive shot of the two suits from IGN's "Stax" Flixburg.

Must be some kind of trademark law deal- that the filmmakers attained the rights to use the logo for the film but neglected to attain it for publicity and the owners of the logo are trying to hold the filmmakers over a barrel.
What else could it be?

I suspect the makers of "Hollywoodland" are hoping that Affleck's performance is good enough to kind of sneak up and surprise people. Affleck is still trying to deal with the "Bennifer" overexposure period and public backlash. I see he has just directed a film in Boston and has been trying to cool things by avoiding ""Acess Hollywood"and the general junketeering, red carpet watching, media gushmeister crowd. George Reeves himself was a solid actor whose scenes in "From Here to Eternity" had to be cut back because some audience members at one preview recognized "Superman". Hopefully if he was alive today Reeves could have shifted easily to guest spots on Curb Your Enthusiasm or the Sopranos. I like to suspect there are more avenues today for actor comebacks and versatility.I seem to recall that "Hollywood Elsewhere" was once a proponent of Kyle MacLachlan for the Reeves role, if my memory is correct. Good to see the old Twin Peaks star will be working on "Desperate Housewives" during the coming season.
