"WTC" sell-job

Standard studio-produced sell-job video for World Trade Center, and yet it has a straight, comprehensive and emotionally honest tone. It's viewable on I-Film. The idea behind this movie is catching on. I can feel this happening. But I still say Paramount should have snuck in this weekend.

I gotta say, I have a lot less desire to see WTC after reading Dexter Filkins' review in the New York Times this morning of the new book by Lawrence Wright. A movie about John O'Neill racing to spot the 9-11 plot and running into the "Gorelick Wall" when the govt. had all the pieces to put it together, intercut with scenes which fully portray the sexual weirdness of Islamic fanatics-- that's the movie I want to see after United 93, and the one Hollywood won't make because it might give support to Bush's policies. A family-oriented, elegiac tribute to firemen caught in a disaster that could have happened anywhere-- that's Hollywood's idea of handling 9-11 "responsibly."
