What you have to do is watch this Good Shepherd trailer and then read my mid-August HE piece called "Sussing Shepherd" and then let it all sink in, and then you need to stir it around until it becomes a kind of oatmeal mush.

I was ready to love this trailer but ended up bored.

First off, movies that have an actor age 20+ years through makeup (or even CGI) always tread close to the line of cheese -- more often than not it just takes me out of the movie.

Second, here's hoping there's more -- a lot more -- to Jolie's character than the stupid cliche we're presented with in the trailer.

Third, had I not known in advance this is a Deniro directed film, the whole feel of the trailer could have easily tricked me into thinking this is the work of Ron Howard, which isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world, but still...

Anyway, I still have high hopes for the movie, but found this trailer to be an undistinctive snoozefest.

I guess I'm the only one excited for this movie. I'm going to go out on a limb and say its a BP contender and will maybe receive a couple of acting nods.
