Bert Fields was obviously entwined with accused wiretapper Anthony Pellicano over several years, but not in any indictable way. The feds couldn't build a solid case against him in the Pellicano wiretapping casestick and now, according to Deadline Hollywood Daily's Nikki Finke, Fields is " virtually free and clear of almost every aspect of [prosecution], including the wiretapping and conspiracy accusations which prosecutors have been pursuing against Pellicano.

"This is done and over," sources told Finke earlier today. She adds that the news "comes despite prosecutors calling at least 10 members of [Fileds'] Century City law firm Greenberg Glusker before a federal grand jury in recent weeks, as reported yesterday by The New York Times' Pellicano-probing duo of David Halbfinger and Alison Hope Weiner."

Are You and others Sure?
Could this be some of what the Feds are looking into? AND, "deja vu" double-cross like with Michael Jackson?

Hey Mario,
Can you check something else out for me. Used to work at big entertainment law firm and had to refer case to Bert Fields - very confidential - could get sued for this since signed confidentiality contract when starting working there. Matter involves Randy Quaid and his wife, believe her name is Eileen - was several years ago and might be wrong about that. Charles Simonyi was our client and was funding a film which she was directing but the Quaids also put alot of their own money into it. Anyway, Simonyi objected to certain scene in film and insisted she cut it which she refused. Can't even begin to tell you how ugly it got. He threatened to pull funding and she threatened to sue. Well, we referred to Bert Fields and I was told it was because it looked like it was going to turn into litigation matter. Well, never heard another word about it which I found very strange. She was very vocal, strong-minded woman and very much wanted to finish her film. Just feel something went down and I don't think it was a settlement. Was thinking of contacting her and asking, but have feeling must have been pretty drastic to make her back off. Know about this?"
And This:
"Mario,
Good, at least one of us is fearless. Good copy, just be sure to add Quaid's wife - wish I could remember her name - this happened in '99, so difficult. She was actual director of film. Little nervous will be getting call from lawyer I worked for, but hey, guess he was in on it too. We called Bert Fields all the
time. Thanks,
Shera"

Confidential Body:
Hey Mario,
As far as Simonyi, is difficult cause I quit soon after I referred to Bert Fields. Can tell you originating office but if use it publicly, they will DEFINITELY know it is me and really don't want that. Law firm representing Charles Simonyi was (and probably still is regarding other issues) Grubman, Indursky, Schindler. Sure you know who Gruman is, with truly offensive daughter and big braggart about how hangs out with Bono, etc. The department I worked in was very small since Grubman is primarily music. Worked for Larry Shire (who was always great to me, so please don't use his name if possible - also, will definitely know it was me). He was the head of the film/TV entertainment department and only four other attorneys working below him. Has to have happened in 1999 or very early 2000, would have to double check, but think I quit while still directing show for network which ended in '99. Only other thing I can think of is of the people calling CONSTANTLY - several times a day. Was Simonyi, Evi, and Kara (pretty sure that was her name - don't remember last name - but she was Simonyi's young thing). Got the feeling was not really about this stupid scene being cut. Scene was of a band performance and at one point the band takes out water-gun dildos filled with milk and squirts them all over audience. I thought was funny and even if Simonyi was offended, find it hard to believe that would be only reason to want to pull funding. Since Kara called all the time and Larry used to dread her calls as much as he dreaded Evi's, feel it had more to do with conflict between those two women and Simonyi backing up his girl. Believe Kara wanted her gone
and was pressuring Simonyi to give her the ax which I guess he couldn't do since Quaids sunk practically all their money into it and was her idea - don't know details of their contract, but my guess is he had to pull out to end conflict. But that's just my guess. Simonyi was always silent partner so why would he care if that scene was in there. Was dating and still does from time to time, Martha Stewart at same time as Kara. Sidenote, Stewart is a royal bitch. She was a client as well and good friends with Larry - used to go skiing together and all - and called daily - just nasty bitch. But back to the matter at hand, just never fully bought that it was about scene especially with Kara calling - and she used to freak out on the phone as much as Evi and sometimes much worse, like she was really pissed about something and don't think it was dildo scene. That's all I got or can remember right now. But something fishy about it. As far as Bert Fields' involvement, maybe see if his secretary at that time is still there - if not, might be willing to give you far more info than I can if he put Pellicano on it, which I really believe he did. Maybe Evi will talk - don't know if will tell the truth cause like I said was very strong lady and can only imagine what would make her back down. Hope that helps somewhat,
Shera"
