Gibson speaks out

Diane Sawyer: "How much did you read of people who came out and said, Do not work with him again? What do you feel about them?"

Mel Gibson: "I feel sad because they've obviously been hurt and frightened and offended enough to feel that they have to do that. Um, and it's their choice. There's nothing I can do about that."

-- excerpted from two-part interview Sawyer has taped with Gibson, set to air on Thursday and Friday morning on "Good Morning, America"

Anger managed lies. Why doesn't Sawyer just bend over and blow him?

"So Mel, you've got a father who claims the Holocaust never happens, you made a movie about Jesus where Jewish children are shown as little demonic monsters and you use as a secondary source the work of a mystic who writes that Jews kidnap Christian babies and grind them up to make matzoh. You're pulled over for drunk driving and your first response is to rant about how the Jews control everything... Are you really all that surprised that people think you may have just a teeny little anti-Semitic problem?"

Critique and hate Mel all you want. But rhetoric like this that knows nothing of one of the sources he used reads like you are the one who is paranoid...not he.

Yes, we really should look at both sides of a nun whose writings helped inspire pogroms.

Much of the public believes that the movie was based on the Gospel of John. The film's official web site states that the movie "was adapted from a composite account of The Passion assembled from the four Biblical gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. " However, the Gospels were extensively supplemented by a number of other sources, including two Roman Catholic mystics:

The "diaries of St. Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824) as collected in the book, 'The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ'." She was an Augustinian nun who lived in Germany. Many information sources incorrectly state that she was the author of the book. In reality, it was Brentano, a famous German author and poet, who assembled descriptions of her visions into book form. It is available online. One posting on a mailing list to which we subscribe wrote that when they read this book, they thought that they were reading Mel Gibson's screen play.

"The Mystical City of God" by St. Mary of Agreda (1602-1665).

D.Z., you have proof of course that this nun, St. Anne Catherine Emmerich inspired pogroms, do you? State your proof if you are going to write something so heinous.

Jennifer, we're so smart and sure of things, that we don't need to research history lessons others refer to consider bits of insight others offer. It's the ones that demand proof and state you can't make commentary that are the intellectually lazy ones. Would love to hear you offer a thought rattling between your ears.

You too Nicol, there's plenty to find out about the sources, if people don't bring them up, how are others to know to go look? Do you just want to silence everyone? I meant to write "history lessons others refer to or to consider bits of insight others offer" like looking at that photo and seeing Sawyer going down on Mel. Good, now I'm back in the mood for The dearly Departed.

You know Ung, you are the one who keeps bringing up "going down" and "bending over", I am thinking you are the one has more than just art on your mind when you are talking about Mel.
As far as your other comments, God forbid that you should have any proof to back up what you write. You are typical of a certain mind set today. And also you can't write anything without getting personal or attacking-which tells me that you no you have no where else to go with your arguments.

Brickwall, type a few key words into Google and follow the links. The only thing more on my mind when talking about Mel, is that when he was pulled over, the war in the Mid East had him in a mood more anti-semitic than usual, and his guard was down because he was drunk.

Everyone is racist to one degree or another, and we are all liars because we all deny it.We are all hypocrites.

But there is nothing that is more distasteful than those who revel and delight in the in the misery and shame of other human beings.

Mel said it was the July War, together with brewing resentment within him over having had anti-semitism charges made against him about POTC, and not receiving apologies for it.

We're back to square one, is POTC anti-semitic? Why wouldn't it be? We're all supposed to ignore inquiry and analysis? There's nothing more distasteful than supressing knowledge. Sorry about the blow job.
