Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (Paramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008) Disguised under deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such as Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reeves' Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year's incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad to the film's viral marketing campaign, Cloverfield had everybody scratching their heads and drooling in anticipation. Aside from the as-yet untitled title and the Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film's biggest appeal was the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty onto the crowded streets of New York City. All we knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Now that the highy-anticipated project has come and gone, one question has fortunately been answered: Cloverfield was a major success. (continued)

Scene from a marriage

Anyone in a marriage or a romantic relationship knows you don't air your messy feelings in public, much less at in front of rich industry peers. Keep it at home or in the car. But Kid Rock (i.e., Bob Richie ) doesn't get this, or didn't, in any event, at a party he and wife Pamela Anderson attended at the home of Universal honcho Ron Meyer a couple weeks ago, at which time his "male insecurity and major anger issues" erupted over Pamela's bit on Borat.

A "Page Six" source says this viewing "was the first time Bob had seen the movie, and, well, he didn't like it." He allegedly "started screaming" -- girl talk for using a forceful, urgent tone -- "at Pam, saying she had humiliated herself and telling her, 'You're nothing but a whore! You're a slut! How could you do that movie?' [All] in front of everyone. It was very embarrassing." The result, says the story, is that Anderson and Richie have reportedly parted ways. Because he couldn't contain his asshole-ishness.

Wait a minute...Borat's been done and screening since early last summer and Kid Rock only just gets around to seeing it two weeks ago? In mid November? What a lazy, armpit-scratching, self-centered piece of three-day-old cheddar cheese this guy must be. I think it's also fair to remind ourselves that Ms. Anderson can really pick 'em. Face it, she's trash herself -- a metaphor for the ongoing social devolution.

I would add, "Wait a minute...You married Pamela Anderson earlier in 2006 and you're just now coming to these conclusions about her? What did she do in Borat that was so much more degrading than anything else she's done in her career?"

I give Pam props for having a good attitude about her life to this point, but, seriously Kid, what newspapers have you been reading over the past decade? Ever hear of something called the internet?

this is probably a really stupid question, but she was in on the whole Borat thing, right? That scene at the signing was too stagey to be believed. It was real enough until he chased he around the store and into the parking lot...and then didn't get arrested and/or pummelled by security. forget it, I just answered my own question.

A Borat casualty, oh well. Kid sure understands manhood. Rolling Stone announced their nuptuals by running a quote from him, "even solid gold pussy gets boring." I guess RS didn't think it would last.

Ironic, that the best thing's Pam done in her career is the thing that did her marriage in.

I came out of that movie thinking, "hey, maybe she's not that bad after all."

Of course, the good news is that this means Pamela is now free to marry Borat.

Is there an article anywhere that documents PA's willing involvement in Borat? I thought this point was still a matter of debate -- ie. whether she was in on the joke or not -- but, if this Kid Rock story really is true (it's Page Six, how could it not be?) and PA was acting in that sequence, the ending of the movie loses something for me. I kind of believed she was genuinely surprised...or at least I wanted to.

I don't have a concrete source, but a co-worker of mine who is a huge fan of Borat said that Pam was aware that something was going to happen, but she wasn't told exactly what it would be. She agreed to go along with the surprise.

WTLW Kid Rock... what a douche-bag. Maybe someone should tell him his ex-wife also has Hep-C since he's apparently oblivious.

ata boy, chris, she whored and slutted herself for a cause. Ha-Ha, philosophical differences made Kid Rock lose his boner! How embarrassing for him! Ha-Ha, Rock, softie.

Just maybe, having never seen it or heard about it, Kid Rock was just as disillusioned by the sex tape scene in the RV as Borat was.

Nah, forget it.
He's a dip.

I could be wrong, but ...

methinks Pam Anderson isnt the brightest bulb and didnt know most of what 'Borat' was going to do to her at the end of the film.

Her publicist probably put a spin on it afterwards, to make people think that Anderson is bright & has a sense of humor, and was definitely in on it.

I think she knew a little bit, but not a whole lot.

On the anger fit that Kid Rock threw ... lets not forget that Kid and Pam were probably banging non-stop for the last 4 months. Why would Kid go to a movie or check the internet when he's got that dim bulb hotness to bang.

Didn't notice this thread. Was it really about Borat, or was it about the miscarriage? I'm kind of wondering why someone with Hep C would choose to have a baby in the first place....
