What a terrible choice of music that starts about a half way through the trailer. It went from being suspensful to something I'd expect to hear in a cop comedy film like Rush Hour or Starsky and Hutch.

Yeah, I don't know how I feel about that trailer. I mean, I'm psyched for the movie, and I'm glad it doesn't give a whole lot away, but I was already psyched for the movie.

It feels a little muddled and the music doesn't really work -- I think the only reason that song is used is so they could end with the mildly ominous "mm-hmm hmm" part of the song. I get the feeling a better draft was started yesterday.

On the other hand, I'm just happy to see footage of the thing.

Having read the script, can you comment on the recent criticism at AICN that "Zodiac" is too long and redundant? It's one of the very few criticisms I've heard on the film, but it does have me concerned. What makes the continuing investigation as depicted in the film interesting or fresh?

Odd trailer -- some great footage, but the way the song is cut in gives the whole thing an almost comedic slant. Still, I read Jamie Vanderbilt's script and loved it. Hopefully Fincher delivers.

Come on kids, the trailer is about atmosphere. That 70's Rod Stewart song is perfect: no, this isn't Silence of the Lambs, and it's not Seven, and it's not that made-for-TV movie about Ted Bundy that you watched last week. If this trailer made Zodiac look like the latest of the Hannibal Lecter knockoffs I wouldn't give it a second look. But judging from the cast (Goose, is that you?), the cinematography, and, yes, the music, this movie is more than just a whodunit. I'm with Jeff on this one - great trailer.

Except for the Brian Cox attitude. I could do without.

Does anyone else think it's weird that they chose "Panic Room" as one of the director credits to brag about ? I thought it was an OK movie, but wouldn't "Fight Club" peak the interest of more people ? They both seem about as (ir)relevant to this type of movie, I just assume "Fight Club" would have more of a following.

Awesome trailer though. It made me go from 'interested' to a 'definitie'... Whenever it comes out in the UK that is.

The trailer is pretty good, but it seems a little conventional and pedestrian for a Fincher movie. Maybe Seven and Fight Club set the bar too high. Not a criticism of the trailer (and certainly not the movie) per se, but it doesn't feel as much like a "Fincher" movie as I expected.

Interestingly, though, when I first watched the Windows Media version of the trailer, it didn't load smoothly, so while the soundtrack kept playing, the visuals came across as a series of stills. And they synched up pretty well. I was actually disappointed when I watched the Quicktime and it turned out to be more straightforward.
