Way too far, and they rarely play anything worth watching. Dunno why the Cinematheque bought them out, because it's only resulted in a lot of older shit being played at both venues. And I can go to the New Beverly if I want to see the vintage stuff.
We need more theaters that show old films, not less. The Aero is a bit inconvenient if you don't live on the west side, but it's a small price to pay for some great films.
The Aero is actually doing better than the Egyptian, since it caters to all those lazy-ass Westsiders who can't bear that grueling eight-mile drive to Hollywood.
Last week there were great crowds for Peter Yates' THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE and Richard Mulligan's THE NICKEL RIDE, a terrific 70s crime-thriller double feature.
God bless American Cinematheque for keeping both theaters going.
I sooooo wanted to get to the Egyptian for that double bill. And then a mild cold hit...
Good to hear it was a crowded theater- maybe I won't have to wait long for the DVDs (EDDIE will take a while because of Paramount but Fox actually might deliver NICKEL in the next few years).

They played Lawrence of Arabia 2 weeks ago. 2 weeks before that they played Star Wars.
Perhaps you'd pass up the '96 Dom in favor of some fresh wine?

MP: I've seen Lawrence at the New Beverly, and they probably only got the "Special" Edition of Star Wars which I saw a decade ago.

It's not that their lazy. It's that it can take as long as an hour nowadays.

The Aero is a great theater and the Cinemateque virtually saved it from the wrecking ball.
