Fascist monsters

Mike Russell has another comic-strip interview up -- this one with Guillermo del Toro explaining the fascist symbolism of his Pan's Labyrinth monsters, a.k.a., "Fascist Monsters of Filmland."

Very nice...but if there was CGI involved in the faun's legs, then yes, they _are_ CGI.

I definitely did not think of glam rock while watching "Pan's Labyrinth". In fact, I didn't think about much at all, except how bored I was.

Del Toro is a hack,
Wells grow up.

Children should not been seen or heard in film...

But then I heard Wells' voice....

jeffmcm, CGI is Computer GENERATED Imagery. If the faun legs were created by a computer, they would be CGI. Using a computer to wipe the human legs out is just plain old special effects, like painting out wires. CGI is a very specific thing and shouldn't be used to just mean "effects achieved with a computer."

Yeah, I know, but it means that it wasn't a purely practical effect. If it had been, then Del Toro could be legitimately patting himself on the back as much as he seems to be, but since Doug Jones was still walking on his own feet, it takes it down a notch for me.

Hey Donnyboy, is your last name Dooley? Or perhaps Murphy?

They're making it sound like this is something new; didn't they make the Fireys dance using that same technique in 'Labyrinth'?
