And that's exactly where I'm going to go when I finally get around to seeing this film.

This is why I refuse to pay their steeper ticket prices. Give me comfy seats over pointless displays anydays.

I've always found the seating to be extremely comfortable.

DZ - What? You think the Arclight pays for these displays? They are PROMOTIONAL materials, supplied by the distributors and studios producing the films. That's why the glass cases of costumes and props from various films showing end up there every week. This tree-thing is a glorified (albeit a bit cheesy) cardboard standee.

Arclight's charging a steep fee for tickets does one helluva job keeping chattering twunts out of the theatre - a recent experience with such practically ruining my time spent with CHILDREN OF MEN last weekend in Century City. Four extra dollars for assigned (and ultra-comfortable) seats and an assuredly more enjoyable time in a theater? Gladly.

Yeah DZ, Arclight doesn't pay for this kind of stuff. I'm sure Picturehouse knew way ahead of time what film would butter it's bread. And was out to spend accordingly.

God I love the Arclight. I've been dogged a movie-snob my whole life. And I'm not, but I'm sure as hell a Movie Theater snob, and I know where to go and where to avoid.

This is probably the worst display the Arclight has ever had, though - it's bulky and really blocks the traffic.

If you go to the Arclight during the week, or prior to 6pm Fri-Sat and after 6pm Sun, it's actually cheaper than every show at the Mann Chinese 6 except the first one each day.

$11 versus $12.50. Plus more legroom and no stupid Pepsi or Moviefone ads. Oh yeah, and there are bathrooms on both floors.

I love Arclight (and LYTrules is right on about the prices). It's the only way to see a movie opening weekend. No waiting in line! Sadly though, it's no guarantee of a pristine movie watching experience. Exhibit A) The massive tool making jokes to his wife about what was happening on screen all through Letters From Iwo Jima.

Also it seems like there are still some people who haven't grasped the concept of reserved seating and just sit wherever they want. Then when I tell them they're in my seat they look at me like I'm some kind of hardass when all I'm really trying to avoid is the big chain reaction clusterfuck that can happen if I just took someone else's seat and the process repeats itself as the lights go down and the trailers roll.

The Mann Chinese has better-and more available-seats and a better projector and speaker system than the Arclight. As for the product placement ads, why the hell should I have to make a "donation" just to insure they're not shown at the theater? Under different circumstances, that'd be considered extortion. And the only reason the noisy people don't show up there is because they'd be too embarassed to be seen in such a run-down neighborhood of beggers and junkies.

Mann's Chinese is a fine theater (I haven't brought along my light or sound meters to compare the experience because I'm not that big of a cretin), but just having to wade through the sea of tourists and shabby superhero characters out front not to mention simply getting within a mile of Hollywood and Highland without being overcome by the urge to murder someone makes it less desireable for me than Arclight. I won't even comment on the commercials or truly obnoxious pre-movie warm-up show extravaganzariffic funtacular you're subjected to before the movie even starts.

Oh and the tour that comes through during the trailers? Just stop. Please.
