"Becket" marquee

The film was great content-wise, but the focus and color tones varied from scene to scene, and
the sound was all over the place -- soft, fully audible, muffled...it even cut out entirely at one point -- Tuesday, 2.6.07, 8:25 pm

Two fake Glengarry Glen Ross trailers in one year. Who'd have thunk it? http://youtube.com/watch?v=nmq1mo6lI8w and http://youtube.com/watch?v=QipAqdomO3I

I saw Becket tonight, it was very good. The sound/picture problems seemed to stem from the print itself and not the Nuart's projection. Burton is very restrained, but O'Toole is a joy to watch as he struts and rants, and I overheard a lady afterwards saying 'all his great roles have him getting lashed and enduring unspeakable loves'.

My all-time favorite moment of less-than-optimal viewing conditions when watching a reissue on the big screen was in the summer of 1993. I saw EL CID at the Cinerama Dome and there were problems with the focus. A customer complained in the lobby (I came out to do the same)and the usher said something like:
"It's because it's AN OLD MOVIE!"
