February is usually a crap month, but some decent attractions are being offered over the next few weeks. It's worth visiting Factory Girl on February 2nd, certainly for Sienna Miller and Guy Pearce's performances as Edie Sedgwick and Andy Warhol. (Even Hayden Christensen, playing a close approximation of Bob Dylan, is pretty decent.) If you live in a big town, The Lives of Others, a masterful, deeply moving drama, is the one to catch on 2.9. Billy Ray's Breach is apparently the one to see on 2.16; two above-average French films, Days of Glory and Avenue Montaigne, are also worth visiting; Craig Brewer 's Black Snake Moan, a pulpy Southern-fried redemption drama, is the only 2.23 release I've seen -- it played much better than expected at Sundance. That's six films -- a good month for DVDs

Factory Girl is the same movie as Marie Antoinette. Edie Sedgwick is the Paris Hilton of her time, we get it. Hayden Christensen does such a poor job as "Bob Dylan" that he single-handedly ruins the film. This film didnt know whether it wants to be about Edie, who is not interesting at all or Andy Warhol, who is. If Hickenlooper wanted to make a Warhol movie, he should've just done it because Edie Sedgwick is not interesting enough to have a whole film based around her. Sienna Miller is decent and Guy Pearce is pretty good, but the movie is about nothing in general and nothingness in specific. I thought The Man From Elysian Fields was really great and it's sad to see Hickenlooper regress like this.

FACTORY GIRL is almost grotesque in its badness. I like to believe that there is a decent cut of it somewhere in the last few months, since the movie doesn't seem incompetently made, but the cut I saw was pretty rotten. If I wasn't exhausted I would write my review now, but it'll wait for the morning.

I am liking Sienna Miller more and more....
Not only is she an actress of great promise, but she's popped up on various late night talk shows over the past week, and she appears to be a fucking RIOT, in terms of personality. A lot of charm there.
I hope to see more of her.

Our Sienna surely has a bad rep, but she is quite charming and intelligent in the extras for Casanova.

Is it possible to give an unbiased opinion on Hayden Christensen's acting? Everything I see seems to be an over-reaction for whatever reason. He seems to me to be an actor with the potential to become a very good actor. I haven't seen Factory Girl yet but I don't find him bad in any of his other roles to date. There's something very likable and appealing about his on screen presence. Oscar worthy? Maybe not but I think he'll be around for awhile. Then again maybe that's my biased opinion.
