Finke responds to Pond

Deadline Hollywood Daily's Nikki Finke has responded to The Envelope's Steve Pond's saying some of her Oscar show spoiler calls are wrong by saying she was right when she reported them but that some bits have been changed or dropped at the last minute, partly in response to her having spoiled them in her column. She goes over every forecast, bit by bit...here it is.

Okay, so I *kind of* get why people go so apeshit about who might win an Academy Award and why, but I fail to see any journalistic value in reporting what an awards show program might look like. Who benefits from learning this stuff ahead of time? Or is it just a game of "look how inside I am?"

Noel: Right the eff on.

There are many, many folks invited to watch the rehearsals and outside of the Finkster, most of them have the common sense and manners to keep their traps shut and allow everyone to watch the show without the "insider info" of what color socks George Clooney is wearing or whether or not Julia Roberts's hair will be down or in a bun.

And now we get the spillover hubris effect of the web's showbiz dish diva, which is much ado about "my reporting on the band conductor's shoe size caused them to change everything."

Silly season, for sure.

If she really thinks they changed anything because of her, she's delusional.

Thanks Nikki for attempting to ruin whatever tiny pleasure or surprise the telecast might have had to offer. If you're right, you've guaranteed the evening will be an anti-climactic slog.

This isn't as bad as when she ruined Million Dollar Baby, but am I the only one who finds her mostly loathesome?
