Richard Roeper and guest critic Lisa Schwarzbaum went on and on and on and on about how bad Norbit is. Schwarzbaum said she wanted to gnaw her arm off while watching it. Roeper said it's "probably one of the worst movies of 2007, and I'm being kind," and that he thinks Murphy is actually trying to make himself look bad. Whoa...why can't these two can't get over their vindictive pettiness and realize that trashing Norbit might hurt Murphy's Oscar chances?

They really hated it. And I'm with Jeff on this one. All his Dreamgirls performance did was make me wish he had continued to do genius things after Nutty Professor, but no, he doesn't give a fuck. Nor does he care about doing anything else remotely creative in the future. Fine. So let's give the win to one of the other fine performers.

Whats bad is that you think Murphy would have learned by now, but he hasn't. The man gets the chance to show his acting chops, but then does sh*t like Norbit, which they release right before the Oscars. The man is going where the money is. People for years from what the Entertainment Weekly cover story they did on Murphy told him that he could do other roles than things like Norbit. But the man won't listen. It's sad because so far only Roger Ebert has stated that Murphy should and will win. Many others have stated that Murphy will win the damm Oscar, but that Alan Arkin, Jackie Earle Haley, or Mark Wahlberg should be the one getting the award.

I'm guessing they won't do it for six shows in a row, though.

Who cares if their trashing of Norbit might hurt Murphy's chances? It was his decision to do the movie.

I like Lisa Schwarzbaum, I respect her reviews and she's a decent enough temp. co-host for Richard (I reeeeeeally like this deeeeee veeeee deeeeee) Roeper, but does anyone else notice that she NEVER shuts up? She yakked all through Roeper's talking. I thought he was gonna thwack her.

Does anyone think Alan Arkin winning the BAFTA is a sign of things to come? My vote would be with Haley or Wahlberg, but I'm with Jeff - a win for Murphy would make me grit my teeth.
