With '08 election fever starting to heat up, James D. Stern and Adam Del Deo's ...So Goes The Nation, which is out on DVD today, might attract fresh interest. As I noted last fall, the doc "explains in the frankest terms imaginable how the John Kerry campaign blew it big-time with the middle American voting public, and how cagey and brilliant the Bushies were at almost every turn."
The two things that come through on the doc are the fact that (a) many millions of Americans out there are living in states of appalling ignorance and religious superstition and are therefore ripe for shrewd exploitation, and (b) the Kerry people made so many mistakes it's hard to keep track of them all, even in a doc as lucid and well-organized as this one."

if kerry had called a press conference and said, this is what i did in vietnam and then listed off what he experienced with the righteousness of jim webb, he would have pushed himself over the hump.
but the fact is, there were voting irregularities in ohio and kerry was screwed. he still came damn close and considering the country's blindness, he did much better than many claim.
those debates were pathetic in that bush was revealed as the litle boy king he's always been. kerry kicked his ass and that got many people behind him. it's too bad. kery was a good guy and would have been fine as president given our present occupant.

The blue staters live in states of appalling ignorance, and the red staters live in states of ridiculous religious superstition, yes, I'll agree.
Kerry only made one mistake, and that was being John Kerry. What an awful, repugnant, despicable subhuman.

And, of course, Christian, being the subintellectual, sheeplike follower of anything force-fed down his throat by The Liberal Powers that Be, would love Kerry. That's to be expected.

Bush wins the election in '04. It's obvious the American people are ignorant, Jesus-fearing morons.
The Democrats win a large number of key elections and take over both houses of congress in '06. The American people have spoken! With a clear-headed, thoughtful voice they have said 'enough'!

By the way, I know he doesn't like to bring it up much, but did any of you know that John Kerry served in Vietnam? No really, he did.

force fed? right. like the way i blame clinton for bush and thought he was a disaster his second term. all sheep think that. waco was a travesty, had it happened under bush it would have been a real story of govt fascism. clinton signed the telecom act giving us fox and media unhinged. that's the popular sheep line right?
i didn't think kerry was the best choice. but he had qualities. he spent his life trying to serve others despite his monied background. he volunteered for nam; he killed human beings in battle; came back and spoke honestly about what he witnessed and was spit upon by republicans; he became a prosecutor putting criminals away; and he likes bruce springsteen.
compare that to bush's record of partying, failed business and sports dealing. unless you think his record of questionable executions is a positive. i'm sure jesus would. i lived in texas when he was guv and he was the typical texas crony politico.
i just think kerry was the obvious pick given the choice.

Didn't Gore give us the telecom act? Keep that in mind if/when he decides to throw his toupe into the ring.

Did you come up with that on your own NYCB? Because, in all sincerity, it's not bad...

Yes, Clinton signed it of course, but it was Gore's crusade...
Dems bring about one of the worst laws in the history of competitition and yet people still find a way to drag Republicans into it.
Don't they teach logic in all schools, or was I just fortunate to grow up in NY?

Bush is stupid, his team is brilliant.
One thing I like about NYC is I know who wrote his posts before I get to his name. He's like DZ that way and that's not a compliment.

Good call on this one JW. Not sure that anyone wants to win the way GWB did though, leaves you especially vulnerable to sliding pub opinion in 2nd term which means you undercut your already slim chances for making an impact, short of suicidal military action against all probabilities, etc.
