An Inconvenient Truth is going to win the Best Feature Documentary Oscar this Sunday, and the right thing, obviously, would be for not just director Davis Guggenheim walking up to the podium to accept, but also (hello?) Al Gore along with producers Lawrence Bender, Laurie David and Scott Burns. Obviously. But no. Just Guggenheim. But of course.

This is just part of the director-mania that has overtaken Hollywood. The media (including you, Jeffrey), hasn't helped by treating directors as the owners of the films they shoot.

Why should they change years of tradition for this film? Gore doesn't even have a credit on the film aside from being a member of the "cast."

When WHEN WE WERE KINGS won, both Ali and Foreman were invited up on stage. I don't see how Gore coming up would be any different.

There's a difference between coming up to the stage and being handed a statue. The Documentary categories have often resulted in non-awardees accompanying the winners, but at the end of the day, getting their story out is what they take with them at the end of the day.

Personally I'd love to see the makers of Jesus Camp win and then give a speech in tounges.
