"Zodiac" opener

This is the track playing during the opening credits of Zodiac, and it's not just a perfect way of immersing the audience in a late '60s mood and head-space -- it's perfect in and of itself.

Groovy. Fincher is a pro when it comes to opening credits. Can't wait.

I saw the trailer for that Julie Taymor thing that basically looks like a remake of Hair with Beatles songs-- you know, there were basically only about 50 hippies in the whole world, that's the Disneyland version of the 60s, to me the late 60s and early 70s looked much more like they do in Zodiac, or in a movie like The Detective (which is too un-PC to ever be appreciated as what it really is, one of the toughest police noirs ever made). I'm looking forward to seeing that on screen, screw flower power kids dancing around and getting high.

Love it! There is a myspace up that has all of the tracks. I keep trying to post it but it won't work. If you want to find it just google up myspace Zodiac soundtrack.

it's soul acrifice by santana. surprised it's not better known.
it's certainly a smoker - one of the centrepiece live tunes of the woodstock doco. there's a sublime split screen sequence during the bongo solo.
the tail-end of the track is even stronger - well worth a download.

you see, in addition to intonation (don't take this is a defensive post), this is an area of online communication that is quite frustrating. I know it's 'Soul Sacrifice,' know all about it's seminal playing at Woodstock, etc, etc, but not wanting to sound too pretentious, I simply said "good call Wells".

It's not well known because it's not pop. Sure, neither are 'Oye Como Va' or 'Black Magic Woman,' but those received an infinite amount more airplay.

'Samba Pa Ti' has had a bit of a revival in movies of late, and there are lots of other great pre-molestation-announcement Santana songs that belong in any mp3 collection...'Dance Sister Dance' has one of the most engrossing guitar riffs of the era...

...ok, ok, see, too much pretense...
