Steampunk Star Wars

I don't know why I'm running this, but some guys are reimagining Star Wars as if it had been created and visualized by Jules Verne. The style/aesthetic is called steampunk. I think it would be better all around if all things George Lucas (including Star Wars) was just left alone. A few steampunk sites -- #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5.

The actual imagery on the first page also illustrates the missing link between the Victorian-era storytelling and ethnic archetypes and how they were converted into Lucas's sci-fi imagery. If the Steampunk guys were going to show their version of Jar-Jar, he would clearly be some kind of half-Jamaican, half-alien creature wearing a stiff-collared white shirt who would look more than a little like Uncle Tom.

If you don't know why you're running it, perhaps you could at least mention where you'd seen it first.

I don't believe in ownership of a link, but if you don't even like or understand what you're linking to, you might at least offer a link to someone who ran it because they enjoyed it.

I'm puzzled. Drew, are you associated with a website of some kind?

Wells to Drew: So many people sent me steampunk links today. I've forgotten who the first guy was, but I know it wasn't anyone named Drew.

Goulet,

There's probably a good reason Drew didn't answer for himself. Such as: he's capable of recognizing blatant facetiousness.
