A couple things...the title might kill this one. I know, I know, it shouldn't matter, but I'm having a hard time seeing that title as a Best Picture nominee, let alone winner.

It's interesting that there's no mention of Crash, only of "Academy Award Winner Paul Haggis". The film may have a lot of detractors, but it was a box office hit and won Best Picture. Wouldn't mentioning it (and Million Dollar Baby, for that matter) help more than hurt?

The trailer was decent, didn't put me over the top. I'm a huge Haggis detractor and no fan of either of the above-mentioned film, but I'll see it. The talent on the screen and subject matter is enough for me, and if Wells is saying it's an improvement over Pauly's last two efforts, I can take that at face value and not be skeptical. The guy's not talentless, after all.

One lame thing was that there were 2 (maybe three?) separate shots of characters sweeping stuff off a counter/desk/tabletop in anger. May be okay multiple times over a 2 hr. movie, but in a 2 min. trailer? Weak choice, and surprising no one noticed and did something about it.

If Jones is great in this and No Country for Old Men, will he get nommed for the wrong one like Leo?

I'm on the boo-Crash aisle but after reading Wells' review, I'm positively looking forward to the film.... and that's due to the review and this overall hammy trailer.

The trailer played choppy for me. Must be the heat. Anyhow, from what I can tell, it looks okay. I'd see it based on Wells' rave...the trailer did little to sell me.

mmmmm...love me some Charlize. What the hell, I'll give it a shot. For the record, hated Crash and Black Donnellys for their navel-gazing and Goodfella's biting, respectively.
