Scott, Turan on "Phoenix"

A.O. Scott's N.Y. Times review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is up; ditto one from the L.A. Times' Kenneth Turan. Scott is thumbs-up, Turan is thumbs-down, and both are out a day and half before opening day. (Both reviews will be in the print editions tomorrow.)

It's fairly common for daily papers to put the reviews for movies opening at midnight in that day's paper. What's odd is when papers like the NY Daily News rush to get a review into their Sunday paper which isn't even written by their regular critic/film writer. I mean, seriously, what's the point of that except to sell more copies to the die hard Potter fans who'll buy a piece of discarded paper if you writer "Harry Potter" on it.
