Gawker posted this 1981 magazine ad ("...around the time that asbestos manufacturers were starting to take serious heat for their cancer-causing product") four or five days ago; I didn't happen upon it until earlier today.

Yes.
The only consolation is, we can finally stop hearing how Oswald couldn't possibly have shot Kennedy-- how could anyone think that a crazy ex-Marine sharpshooter who once defected to the USSR was the person who would have shot an anti-Communist president? Obviously it must have been the entire CIA and Pentagon working together with the Mafia and Jimmy Hoffa-- and instead we can spend the rest of our lives hearing how Bin Laden couldn't possibly have been behind 9/11 instead.

My favorite JFK conspiracy theory is that there were multiple teams in various places, each with different motives, entirely unaware of each other. Just an amazing coincidence they were at the same place at the same time.

Guess what, guys? Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone and Islamic Fanatics flews planes into the World Trade Center. One mad man in Dallas got lucky with a headshot and nineteen, satanic Muslims went to fly school. Sometimes life is just that simple and not an Oliver Stone movie.

You're a man of contradictions. On one hand you dismiss all conspiracy theories about 9/11 and JFK like a hard-core realist and yet, on the Iraq War you are a wide-eyed fantasist. I work for a website, and right now I'm looking at a photo of an Iraq War veteran who is burned over 97% of his body. And I'm waiting for the AP to make this available to me to publish.

Mgmax: Even Castro doesn't think Oswald shot Kennedy. Also, it's not his background that's the issue as much as the logistics.
From http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070701/ts_nm/cuba_castro_dc
Castro also reiterated in detail his long-held belief that U.S. President John F. Kennedy, assassinated in 1963, was the victim of a plot involving elements of the CIA and militant anti-Castro Cuban exiles.
Castro, a master sharp-shooter with a telescopic rifle, insists Lee Harvey Oswald could not have been the only shooter in Dallas.
"You loose the target after every shot even if it is not moving and have to find it again in fractions of a second," he said.

Ah yes, Castro, such a reliable source. A man who also promised free elections to Dwight Eisenhower when the United States was willing to recognize his new July 27th government. That is until, guess what, no free elections... What a surprise... I'm sure Castro is a reliable source on all things...

Did Ike recognize his government? But hey, if you're going to play that game, why are we doing business in China, even though they don't admit any wrongdoing in Tiananmen Square?

"when life depends on it, you use absestos."
The precise mechanism that causes asbestos-related diseases is unknown. Asbestos is extremely dangerous if inhaled because it is indestructible and can result in lung disease. It appears that even low levels of exposure to asbestos can cause the fatal cancer mesothelioma. The inhalation of asbestos fiber has been associated with numerous other types of diseases such as lung, colon and gastrointestinal cancer as well as with fibrotic diseases in the lung such as asbestosis and pleural disease.

Yes, and we know you pinko commies don't do logic.
It is possible-- and in the case of asbestos, perfectly logical-- that something can both save lives one way (preventing fire) and kill people another way (causing cancer).
Let me know if your head is hurting from the contradiction and I'll explain it more gently.
