The new bells-and-whistles website for Paul Haggis's In The Valley of Elah (Warner Independent, 9.14) went up today, along with a new one-sheet. The copy line says, "Sometimes finding the truth is easier than facing it."

Well, at least the poster has all the subtlety of Crash.

NEW one-sheet? This has been on display in Houston lobbies for a couple weeks now. LOL. Maybe it was test-marketed here?

Wells to Massey: I'm no one to talk about hanging on to long-standing hates and prejudices, and I'm resigned to "Crash" haters continuing to stir the pot until the 9.14 and 9.21 openings. I can only say again that "Elah" is "Elah." Same filmmaker, different strokes, remarkably different type of film.

I think this is going to be 49% plot and action and 51% character and 95% good with a 75% Rotten Tomatoes rating.

Sometimes the truth is easier to face than to find. I like that one a little bit better. Like something Dorothy Parker might have said.

The flag should be bigger and wavier. Tommy Lee and Charlize should be holding hands. Tommy Lee should also have a digitally-created tear streaming down his cheek.

Funny, I don't remember anyone's chief objection to Crash involving what "type" of film it was, other than maybe the offensively stupid type.
