Hey, you left out the best part! After all that torture and tough-guy stuff, the address where Clarence is going turns out to have been in plain sight all the time, stuck on the refrigerator door with a magnet. That's the kind of absurd twist that makes this movie so enjoyable.

tony scott's single finest moment as a director. he stepped back and let these amazing actors nail qt's greatest dialogue scene. hyperbole much? and i don't like this movie except for the cast.
This is why Tarantino is one of the best screenwriters around. This is a scene between a secondary character and a tertiary character. William Goldman says give the best lines to the star--he probably wouldn't even have a scene here, or at least cut it to the bone--but Tarantino let's everyone have their say. Really no one's done this since Preston Sturges.

That is not a word I want to use. I won't even use it in my response to you. But I agree wholeheartedly with the old Lenny Bruce routine (later referenced by Tarantino) that to restrict a word is to give it a power it does not deserve. Particularly in light of the fact that it's acceptible in some uses but forbidden in others.
It's simply not a race issue either. "Cunt" is another word that has been given this nuclear power it just doesn't deserve.

To ask that is to miss the point of the scene. Mr. Whorley (Hopper) knows they can and will torture him till he talks, so he taunts Coccetti into killing him before they can do that. It's really a rather moving conclusion to the scene, especially considering "CLARENCE IN L.A." is right on the fridge.
