Sally Field was bleeped at the Emmys for saying "goddam," but the entire statement -- "And let's face it -- if the mothers ruled the world, there wouldn't be any goddam wars in the first place!" -- is straight, plain, dead-on. What blue-nose biddy would bridle at that adjective in that context?

I wonder if Sally meant mothers like, oh, I don't know, Mariam Farhat, a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council who, (after losing three of her sons to anti-Israeli suicide attacks against civillians), wish that she "had 100 more sons to sacrifice the same way".
But I guess that wasn't really a "war". They were merely carrying out justifiable attacks against a bunch of sub-human jews.
You go, girl!

Walter, you're a lot more useful at being snarky guy than at being 'liberals are wrong' guy. That's what Mgmax and Josh Massey are for.

Good point.
Also I know one of Sally Field's sons and he's kind of a dick, so there you go.

A sphinkster? Sally's whole comment came through on the telly, bleep or no bleep, and it played suspensefully when the music dipped down, so she she ended up ruling, suckas. The part that bothered me was how she tried to disown the meaning of her words in the aftershow. "I swear, it wasn't political." Own it, goddamit, Sally.

Goddamn is pretty much profanity non grata and seems to be in a holding pattern.
You may hear "shit," "prick," "asshole" and other curses on movies edited-for-television, but you will *not* hear goddamn.

There were several other cutaways, including Ray Romano's "Frasier is screwing my wife." Odd time for Fox to suddenly become prudish.

Who are you refering to?
and...
(not counting other treads) what was it about my above post that was so Hannity-Coulter-Rush right-wing nutty?
I didn't make it up.
Also, last I checked it wasn't Dennis Thatcher who decided to go to war against Argentina...

Brad Garret can look at Joely Fisher's plunging neckline and say, "note to self...get a carton of milk" or something like that, and she can then in return say to him "you couldn't get on Craigslist...unless it was Senator Craig's list..."
That's acceptable humor to FOX, but Field's comments, made at the 10:30 hour, Romano saying the word "screw" (which has been said numerous times on "2 and a Half Men" at the 8:00 hour on CBS), Katherine Heigl mouthing an inaudible "oh shit" all get censored?
These delays take the fun out of this shit.

I think jeffmcm was referring to my mention of NYCBusybody as a reliable source for wingnut commentary. Mgmax and Josh Massey set a much higher George-Will-like standard that NYCBB cannot even dream of. Plus Mgmax is a true scholar of film history.
Walter Sobchak's surrealistic snark puts him in a class by himself, though his wonderful imagination sometimes deserts him when he's overcome by his Republican impulses.

I think the awards shows would be far more entertaining if the producers "tolerated" free speech the same way the goons at the recent Kerry event handled that liberal moonbat. They tasered the crap out of him! Imagine Sally Field writhing around the stage, screaming? Maybe the show wouldn't have drawn record low ratings this year.

As you can see, the kid is a little unhinged, delusions of grandeur, etc...
Kerry should have walked down into the audience, told him that he was right and gave him a big ol' hug. Then the campus police should've surrounded them in a big bear hug and sang "God Bless America."

Everyone is saying that kid was tasered for asking a question. No, he was tasered for fighting with the cops.
And yeah, the kid is unhinged. People like that are one reason I don't miss college.
