"How could this film not make $3 million back in theaters?" James Gandolfini asks about Romance and Cigarettes, John Turturro's much-delayed musical that will open at Film Forum on Friday, in a 9.2 N.Y. Times piece by Franz Lidz . "There's at least $3 million of weirdos out there who'd go to see it. I probably know half of them."

Gandolfini obviously thinks far more highly of his out-of-key singing than anyone else on the planet will.

Turturro is fighting the good fight, but it'll be an uphill battle getting more than a few weirdos to see his eccentric, none-too-successful film.

I think it's a quite enjoyable film overall. I hope it at least has a semi-impressive showing in New York. I hate in when studios fuck with films like that.

Gandolfini, like many actors, thinks he knows the business side of the movie industy when really he has no idea. This is like the person who expressed shock to me recently when I told them that Underdog has made only $40 million.

Still, why not just put it on like 250 screens around the time THE SOPRANOS ended, to see what happens?
