Finke's explanation of Robinov history

Nikki Finke's explanation of how the whole "working with women" hoo-hah went down with Warner Bros. production president Jeff Robinov from last Friday until yesterday adds layers and intrigues, although I can feel the helium leaking out of this thing.

"I treat emails sent to me as private (...)".

That made me giggle.

She said emails TO HER, not third party emails someone else sends to her.

Someone has to. Anyway I could say the same back to y'all, that you're always attacking her.

Sounds to me like Robinov is full of shit. This must be a PR nightmare. I bet he gets shitcanned within weeks. And if he doesn't, he should. I don't always agree with her tactics (especially her stance on torture porn) but she's one of the best in the biz and if you don't play ball with her, you shouldn't be playing at all.

If Robinov had balls, he'd man up and admit that he said it... and that there's nothing wrong with it. It makes sound business sense. Men are the audience. WB should be making films for the audience. Every now and then, a chick flick makes it huge, like Prada, but those rare instances are few and far between. It's fine that he's developing Wonder Woman and is in post on the Traveling Pants sequel, and maybe he shouldn't say WB won't produce anymore films with female leads, but what's wrong with admitting that they're gonna start cutting back because they miss more often than they hit. He's flip-flopping back and forth and proving once and for all that Nikki has more balls than he does. You're a fuckin' mogul, man! Act like one. Make a wild decree and stick with it. Don't pussyfoot around because you got some bad press. So what if women stop going to WB films. They weren't going anyways! Stick with what works, like movies made by men, for men, starring men. Make it rain, men, man!

I know she did. But the hipocrisy is still funny: she says she thinks private emails should be kept private but clearly doesn't mind to divulge them if they were sent to someone else.

Has anyone actually ever SEEN her? I have not had the pleasure but I imagine squinty eyes, a face covered in a blue tint with papers, books and folders scattered everywhere throughout a low-lit, home-office with... oh wait, that's me. Shit.

Leaving 51% of the population for someone else's taking. Brilliant.

These studio douchebags need to figure out how to market properly to women because they've obviously got no clue. It's bad business to ignore half of the available consumers.

It wasn't too long ago that the studios were saying similar things about films whose target audience was Blacks...or young girls...or Christians. What they finally realized was that, duh, you have to make movies that these (admittedly generalized) groups want to see.
