Holmes ran the race

Where credit is due: OK! is reporting that Katie Holmes ran the entire 26-mile New York City Marathon yesterday. She reportedly finished the race in 5 hours, 29 minutes and 58 seconds. Hats off, show of respect, eat my words.

She would've run much faster, but they told her Tom was waiting for her at the finish line.

No, they told her that if she made it to the end she would finally be free.

She must have channelled her husband in the thousands of running scenes he's done.

No, she didn't. If she ran the entire 26 miles she wouldn't have had such a horrible time. She walked a significant amount of time.

have YOU ever run a marathon? I didnt and I dont care if it take a person 10 hours to finish, it still is a fantastic thing.

I told y'all she was a runner. I'll bet she spends a lot of time on the treadmill behind those anti-paparazzi walls.

That's true, of course. It's also true that for a fit woman under 30 who has ostensibly trained some for the race, her time SUCKS. My aunt who is a fit but by no means extraordinarily athletic 52 year old finished her first marathon in 4:15.

More importantly, do they have footage of her running in slow motion?

With a time like that any footage would appear to be in slow motion.

She didn't run the marathon. She briskly walked it.

I'm sure to many people walking that distance is an accomplishment, but don't call it a run. It's insulting to the people who actually make an effort to prepare properly for such an event.

Ish -

The "marathon" aspect comes from the length, not the speed, and that length is the impressive aspect of marathon racing. Split hairs all you want, but she *finished* the marathon, and that does take an effort of preparation.

Good lord, it's amazing how many people can so easily transfer their dislike of an actor to his wife.

Josh: I'm guessing it's not because of Tom that they don't like her, but because she nearly ruined Batman Begins.

Sure, she didn't run the fastest time, but I'd love to see some of you clowns walk 26.2 miles.

Well, this clown certainly could beat that time tomorrow if I had to. No problem at all.

Yet that is irrelevant. Nor do I feel animosity towards Holmes for being slow and unprepared. That's nothing to me.

But to pretend that this is some kind of significant achievement? It just isn't. A half-assed effort at best.

And she did take up a place that would otherwise have gone to someone else. Almost certainly someone who would have made more of an effort.
