Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sarandon's expressions capture the way I tend to feel whenever I read a box-office assessment story quoting Media by Numbers president Paul Dergarabedian. A dependable, well-liked guy, but he zones people out. Not sassy or colorful enough. We need a movie stats guy who talks like Yogi Berra.

How about someone who just speaks English? And that includes avoiding outdated industry jargon like 'boffo' or 'ayem'.

Wells to jeffmcm: Simple English is beautiful, but cautious generic assessments in droning, tedious, cookie-cutter English is all we tend to get from Dergarabedian. A flavorful commentator with a little wit and color would be more welcome. Yogi Berra was an ox in a certain sense, but he was, in his own way, beautiful when he opined & ruminated. Why do you always sound like the quintessential Mother Hubbard, jeffmcm, with the Victorian cloth dress and the yarn-and-sewing needle basket by your side?
