Ebner on Cruise video

Hollywood Interrupted's Mark Ebner talking to Rush & Molloy about the Tom Cruise Scientology recruitment video that was up for a while on Sunday and early Monday before it was yanked. Again -- it's not what Cruise believes or how he expresses himself that gets me. It's that insane narrator. He sounds just like the guy who narrated the opening of the '50s Superman TV series with George Reeves. That strident tone of barking machismo...whew.

Can't wait for the Valkyrie press tour. Will anyone ask Cruise about the perfect future society he speaks of? The one where all "SP"s have become forgotten relics for the "history books"?

I love being a "Suppressive Person", but it seems to me that the Scientologists are "Suppressing" all the cool Cruise clips.
KSW, Scientologists! Release the clips!

The Freedom Medal of Valor? Good God, it's like a religion run by really cool ten year olds.

I thought SP stood for "secular progressive?" All these crazy person acronyms confuse me so much!

I know the narrator got you, but it was more of what Cruise said that freaked me out... "if I pass by an accident, I know I am the only one that can help." When did Tom get his M.D.?

Screw Tom Cruise. This Superman clip is great. Want to know why Richard Donner's Superman was a smash and Bryan Singer's bombed? Look no further than this clip. Corny? Sure. But quintessentially Superman.

One day... SPs... they'll just read about them in the history books.

Only if David Miscavige gets the bomb, Tom.

Tom Cruise scares the shit out of me!

There's not "some sort of pod people" element to what's going on, IT IS FUCKING POD PEOPLE!!!!!

It seems that scientology is in the game of never finishing a thought, so as to prevent the utter transparent ridiculousness of that thought to slap the listener in the face. The literature is full of run-on sentences that loose their meaning halfway through, though are peppered with aspirational phrases that keep whatever shaved ape who happens to be listening with anything other than abject horror in the positive mindset about what is being said. KSW, 'Keep Scientology Working"? Nice, so basically, if the 'policies' as Cruise puts it, of this religion don't seem to be working, it's your fault, not the religion. "Either with us or against us".

It's self help for the soul, and it's fucking off the reservation.

At least they're doing something yadda yadda yadda.... So what, the fucking Nazi's were commendable because they were organised and had ideas about how they wanted the world to be? These people are the most proactive bunch of dip shit, mindless, neutered, dependent reductive lunatics I've ever seen.

I weep for the future. literally, I weep because of this shit. I'm with Lumet "Religion was over, finished!". I really thought we as a species would be more into the idea of controlling our own destinies by now, rather then the few working to control us all and the rest not even giving a shit.

Qualification - Irish Catholic, considered becoming a priest before I reached halfway through my teenage years and actually followed most statements made during the sermon with a question rather than an 'Amen', so don't get all 'Godless critic!' on my ass, or I'll have you shaved, sterilised and destroyed.

Recovering Catholic, former seminarian here. The Catholic Church has some weird ideas: The cult of Mary being one of the weirdest. But Scientology? WTF!!!

I couldn't even get through reading the KSW document that BlueRaymondBabbit linked. If they are the only ones who can do anything (as Cruise states), why haven't they? Not sure if I should laugh hysterically or cry out in terror.

I took one of the Scientology personality tests when I was 21 just so I could have an opine.

I will never forget the antiseptic gloomy cult vibe of that place nor the people. I had to literally bolt out of there...

Wow, I'm aware of how stupid and fucked up the Church of Scientology is, and that damn video STILL had me pumped at the end of it even though Cruise wasn't really saying shit. That video was brainwashing at its finest.

Cruise should get a fucking Oscar for that clip alone.

The nonstop Mission Impossible music also helped of course. lol
