Hitler isn't jiving about Paramount. The word for the last week or so is that it's only a matter of time before they capitulate to Blu-Ray. A brilliant piece. "Blades of Glory?...are you fucking kidding me?"

Well, if Hitler thinks the HD-drive should have been bundled with the 360, who am I to disagree?
So, if Blow-Ray has won, how long will their victory last before the internet becomes the main delivery method? I'm sure it won't be the 10 years that DVD has enjoyed. I heard Netflix is almost ready with their internet to TV movies. Isn't that the first nail in the next-gen disk coffin?

Wells -- I'm curious about where this fell on your personal expression of humor meter. Did you nod knowingly, quietly recognizing its funny smarts? Or did you outright guffaw and slap thigh?
It was the former for me. Very good stuff, indeed.

Wow...those 4 minutes were funnier than most 90 minute Hollywood comedies. Laughing at my desk, people wondering what I'm laughing about. Thanks Wells.

This is the second of these Hitler comedy videos I've seen. Being a big XBOX fan, I loved the XBOX + Downfall mash up done maybe a year ago.
This scene is rife for lampooning - despite it being Hitler.

Brilliant. The only thing missing was a line about paying off Knowles and his AICN cohorts. "I knew paying the Fat Man was a strategic mistake!"

Considering what Apple just announced today about HD Apple TV movie rentals, I'm thinking this whole conversation is going to be obsolete sooner than we thought:

I'm curious how much of a difference it would make if George Lucas decided to only work with HD-DVD.

The "HD" quality of the video is going to be the big issue, though. I won't even get into download time.

The quality of the "HD" video is a big question mark as of right now, though. I won't even get into download time.

This is easily the funniest video you've ever posted Wells. Bravo for that. The Bill Hunt reference is great.
For what it's worth, Blu-Ray is pretty fantastic, although my upconverting DVD player looks great enough that I don't feeel the need to completely re-buy everything.
Oh, and the one thing that Hitler does have is Zodiac in HD-DVD only. Fucker.

The problem with the idea of internet downloads overtaking Blu-ray discs is that you have to have a high speed internet connection. What's the proportion of the population with that? Around here, Comcast broadband costs about $50 a month, and that's BEFORE you rent any videos. Plus, you have to buy the AppleTV box. Compare that to around $20 a month for unlimited rentals from Netflix or Blockbuster and it's quite a premium.
Also, the file sizes are huge. I record HDTV on my Mac and an hour's show is about 6 or 7 GB, and that's not even 1080p. You're looking 20 GB for some movies. So you could hold two of them on an AppleTV's 40 GB hard drive. Any compression they do in the process degrades the quality. I think Blu-ray is going to have a good life.
