Sean Penn has been named jury president for next May's Cannes Film Festival, which will run from 5.14 to 5.25. What does this signify? Nothing. The Cannes people got in touch, Penn said yeah, off to France and whoop-dee-doo.

Burma, I know you're ancient and mannered and live where people are decent to each other, like Malibu Gigolo, wherever he is, but the facetious-by-nature, like moi, are thinking it ain't nothing, it's oh-la-la, schwing, re-bound.

Say what you will, Wells does have a supernatural facility for writing quizzically obtuse posts which seem to be custom made for stirring all kinds of shit up.

I think that T Holly might be our new William Faulkner. Reading her posts are like reading the chapters in The Sound and the Fury that are written from a mentally handicapped point of view.

What does this signify? I don't get it. They picked someone who, ya know, has some kind of talent. They usually do.

The French named him because they hope it will annoy a few Americans.
And this is coming from someone who actually likes both France and Sean Penn, as hard as they both make it for me sometimes.
Speaking of the pissy French, whatever became of NYCBusyBody? He must of gotten fired from that job he was posting from all the time.

Oh hi, that sounds nice. I picked up The Little Girl and The Cigarette and, at the time, A View of the Ocean wasn't out on the shelves yet. Then I had to celebrate the holidays and got sidetracked, but I look forward to getting into TLGATC partly because it's put out by that little publisher in Hoboken I've been wanting to buy something from, partly because Hoboken's a place near and dear to my heart, since I used to live there and belonged to a sketching club. that met at a house, where we'd take turns modelling nude for each other.

Great to hear from you.
Melville? Yes. I like them very much, too.
They have a never before published novella of Proust coming out in Feb....The Lemoine Affair...a spoof. It sounds fun.
And yes, I've found out all the best meanings coming from the getting what you give spirit.

Sounds like Melville is run by very interesting people. I'll make some sort of announcement when "I'm finished" the book. 'Getting what you give' is a good way to put that.
