Last Friday Screen Actors Guild president Alan Rosenberg informally asked big-talent publicists repping actors who've been nominated for a Critics Choice Award to keep them away from attending tonght's awards ceremony. That didn't go over -- talent will be attending. To clarify or reposition, a SAG spokesperson said this morning that "the Screen Actors Guild is not discouraging its members from attending the BFCA [Critics' Choice] Awards, nor will there be repercussions for any members that choose to do so. It is not a struck production and there will not be a picket line. Members who make a personal choice to attend the event will [therefore] not be crossing a picket line to do so."

They should boycott it simply because of its inanity.

Should the Broadcast Film Critics be giving "lifetime" rerun awards to Fifth Element, Big Daddy and the cinema of Chuck Norris?

Who cares about these awards? The only awards I care about come from the audience; the People's Choice Awards is just two nights away!
I think the Best Picture nominees are The Bourne Ultimatum, Transformers, Pirates III and I think Zodiac.
Oh yeah, I do care about one other Award, my own awards for Best HE Posters for 2007.
My first award:
Surest Laugh Poster Goes to...Walter Sobchak.
Surest Laugh to be Followed by a Desire for a Cleansing Shower Goes to ... Milkman
(A breif moment of silece for the late, mediocre poster...Ian Hunter who passed away taking with him any hope of a Best Picture Oscar line-up of Enchanted, The Golden Compass, Beowulf, 3:10 to Yuma and There Will Be Blood.)
Best Defender of Truth, Justice and the American Way (Right Wing Division) Poster Goes to...Mgmax (maybe next year, DH)
Best Defender of Truth, Justice and the American Way (Left Wing Division) Poster Goes to ...Christian
And finally, Most Quixotic Mission Poster Goes to... jeffmcm and his ongoing effort to shut D.Z up (runner-up, D.Z. and his efforts to prove that the Star Wars films were not finacially profitable)
Thank you all for the enjoyable reading throughout 2007.
