The most concisely phrased and on-target words Alec Baldwin has ever written for the Huffington Post appeared a little more than three hours ago: "What Mrs. Clinton has that Mr. Obama does not have, Mr. Obama can get. What Mr. Obama has that Mrs. Clinton does not have, she can never get."

Ooooh, Mr. Muckle gives me an idea - all you computer whizzes out there, get to work - somebody needs to splice Baldwin's rant from "Glengarry Glen Ross" together with bits from Hillary interviews/rally appearances so that it appears he's screaming at her...this needs to happen. Get a nice clip of her sipping coffee in some small town diner...cut to Baldwin "PUT that coffee down...coffee is for CLOSERS". Endless possibilities here, really.

That's funny Jeff, because I thought of you when I read Baldwin's first sentence:

I'm a reader since way back and I don't remember you spewing so much hate on Bush. Of course, Bush isn't a woman.

True Burma, but given the tone of many of Jeff's other comments about women and the way he talks about Hilary, chalking HIS dislike of Hilary up to some degree of dislike of women seems absolutely fair. And for some reason when he and others here dispute this, I keep having flashbacks to Anchorman: "Don't get me wrong, I loooove the ladies. But they do NOT belong in the newsroom!"

I'm neither lazy not a whiner, but there's much misogyny (and ageism) in HE Hillary-hate. If the idiotic chart a few posts back isn't proof enough, search for the post where Jeff whines that Hillary's "shrill" voice makes guys wince.
Misogyny in HE is not limited to Hillary. Look at posts about actresses or movies centered on women. Somebody damaged Jeff bad.
Anyway, the point is that Baldwin is right. The way Obamaheads go after Hillary you'll think she's on the right of Ann Coulter. It's starting to turn people off.

BTW, let me tell you why this irrational hate is sheer idiocy for Democrats in general and Obamaheads in particular. Obama is going to need Hillary and the Democratic Party establishment's help in swing states like Florida. He has won primaries in stronghold Republican states. Sure they are voting for him now -they hate Hillary- but in the general election they are voting for McCain.
No Democratic candidate in the modern era has been elected without Florida, California and New York. Piss off enough Hillary supporters there and you are in for a surprise. I'm neutral in the primary (actually voted for Obama, but it doesn't count since it was Florida). I'll vote for whoever gets the Democratic nomination but I also want that person to win in the general election.

Kind of ironic you mention that, considering Coulter said she'd vote for Hillary over McCain. Anyway, the actresses Jeff goes after generally deserve it.
"No Democratic candidate in the modern era has been elected without Florida, California and New York."
Perhaps, but no Dem in the modern era has gotten the opportunity to not need them to win, either.

Just look at the abuse Jeff Wells heaps onto John Edwards for having the temerity to run against Obama, then for not immediately endorsing Obama the first minute Edwards drops out of the race.
It's over the top vitriol, and the only sins Edwards has committed are: a. he's not Obama, b. he ran against Obama, and c. he hasn't endorsed Obama yet.

Is Hillary's voice not in fact shrill? Does she not in fact have a tendency to yell? Is the idea of having to listen to it every day for four years not unpleasant, just as it would be for Rudy Giuliani or Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich? This is an aesthetic matter, not a sexist one. She is being judged and found wanting as a person, not as a woman.
Equality bites?

On the other hand, Wells does seem to reach for misogynistic language every time he's in the mood for slapping Edwards around: e.g., the liberal use of the word "pussy".
Or falsely attributing a comment to Edwards in which he supposedly used the word "pussy" to describe Obama. Wells at least called the comment "alleged", but if you followed the link there was no "alleged" about it. The alleged quote was false. It didn't exist.
Only Mark Halperin used the word. Halperin was not quoting Edwards, but was merely speculating -- in other words, guessing -- about Edwards's opinion of Obama.
This false quote supposedly explains why Edwards hasn't made an endorsement yet, even though this past Sunday was the first chance Obama and Edwards have had to meet since Edwards dropped out.

Regardless of how silly it would be to pass judgment on politicians based on their voices, there's a lot of other examples of sexist language in HE. Obviously I'm not the only one who picked up on it.

I'm surprised anyone is bothering to argue that Jeff isn't a misogynist. Just go back and read his Heartbreak Kid review.
This site is popular with men because Jeff plays with his cards on the table. He says what he feels and everything he posts is unfiltered. Of course, women are uncomfortable with honesty, so they usually run screaming for the hills.

Just a glimpse into my perspective (if anybody cares). I am not married to any party. I have voted both ways, I am simply exhausted by the rhetoric and the strange ideas that eminate from the far nether regions of both parties. Read the first comment under Baldwin's. It's someone railing against capitalism. Is that even worth the effort? Back to Baldwin, what did he really say? Could his arguments have been any more shallow? It's all generalities. I have found it interesting to watch how John McCain's persona is evolving. Most Democrats and impartial people I have spoken with agreed that McCain is attractive because he has a proven record of working with Democrats to get things done. He was clearly the favorite of non Republicans to win the nomination because he's someone most agree they can work with. Now that McCain has the nomination he "sounds more like a Bush brother every day". To an impartial observer, Obama also appears to be more willing to reach out and unite. To me, Hillary is too partisan. She wears all of her grudges on her sleeve. She's George Bush in a wig playing for a different team. Either Obama or McCain would be uniters and serve the counrty well. It is going to be tedious year watching the rhetoric machines get reved up to convince us otherwise.

Last night, Obama gave a long, impassioned speech outlining his vision. Mrs. Clinton asked her audience to go to her web site, read her position on the issues, and then give her some money. Pathetic.
Now that Mrs. Clinton is strapped to the stake, with the oil-drenched wood at her feet waiting to be ignited – well, I suppose, Jeff, you can do the honors...
But think for a moment about the general election... will Amerika vote for the 46-year-old, hip, charismatic black dude? Or the 71-year-old, dour, cranky ex-soldier guy, the quintessential “hey, you kids, get off my lawn!†candidate?
As for spouses... Mrs. Obama – appearing with the couple’s children beaming like little suns - looks like she just stepped off the set of “The Cosby Show.†Mrs. McCain – former opiate addict, stroke victim, and current Stepford wife – doesn’t stand a chance here.
No contest. It’s over.

And you're being insensitive to trans-gendered people! Anyway, pussy is a derogatory word used against women by men, so using it on men is a way of throwing it back at them. When you label a guy with that term, you're asserting female superiority to them, not demeaning women. Ok, I'm full of shit, but I still think that it's not misogynist to call Edwards that name, because I assume Jeff doesn't hate women as a whole, just the type of women who can't make decisions, and who end up holding the line at the check-out stand.
gansi: "You must be the only one around here who takes Coulter at her word."
No, but her comments undermine feminism more than Jeff's comments.
Bocephus: "I'm surprised anyone is bothering to argue that Jeff isn't a misogynist. Just go back and read his Heartbreak Kid review."
It's the concept of HBK which is misogynist, not his review.
MDOC: "Most Democrats and impartial people I have spoken with agreed that McCain is attractive because he has a proven record of working with Democrats to get things done."
