"Dead Body" Dies

Opening Friday in 1977 theatres, the lightweight rom-com Over My Dead Body has made only $4,600,000 -- not much to crow about. Obviously the concept, the marketing and the appeal of the two leads, Eva Longoria and Paul Rudd, didn't cut it with Joe Average. The fact that it managed only a 13% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes (and an even worse 8% among top critics) undboutedly had something to do with the D.O.A. reception. Jeff Lowell's film appears to be the worst of the year so far. Disputes?

However, MEET THE SPARTANS isnÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t just an odious picture of the most evil design, but a larger statement on mainstream filmgoing taste.

It is and will remain the worst film of 2008. Nothing will top it.

As I mentioned a few days ago, just looking at the trailer for Longoria's film was enough to
predict it would miss the top 10.

But Eva should rest easy since her current
humiliation is about to be eclipsed by Hilton's
100-Megaton atrocity.

The Eye is hard to argue with as far as I'm concerned. It's this year's The Number 23. Haven't seen Dead Body but I heard it wasn't that bad save for Lake Bell (I don't see her appeal either). And Strange Wilderness looks stupid but in a good way, like Grandma's Boy. I loved the latter so I'll give Covert's latest a shot, and Fred Wolf writes with Spade so he's gotta be worthy.
