I imagine they'll wait for the west coast debut before going live, but we'll see.
Unrelated: I just heard Stuart Scott make an "I drink your milkshake" reference on Sportscenter. Nighty-night, bunny rabbit.

Yay Indy on my computer!
Totally unrelated...except it is film...watched "L'Avventura" and "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill" this evening (both for the first time). Am about to launch into "District 13" now. It's an eclectic viewing night.

just came back from a midnight screening of definitely, maybe (don't ask... though it was sort of adorable in its own manipulative way), and the indy trailer played before it. it's short and oddly cut, but the warehouse sequence is pretty dynamite and the last bit "you're a teacher?" hints at the silly fun to come. overall, i understand the desire for a taste of new indy, but this ain't gonna satiate or stoke too many hungers.

For those who can't wait... here's a pretty decent bootleg of the trailer:
http://www.iesb.net/index.php? option=com_content&task=view&i d=4317&Itemid=99
It's short, it's fast... but goddamn I loved seeing him swinging from the rafters. The first time I watched it, I actually yelled out "Yeah!" when I saw that happen.
Wells will surely be sad that there are traces of J.K.'s cine-style in there.
Also love the Bruce Campbell-esque reading of the line "Part time".

Aladin, bet you went mental for Faster Pussycat.
John Waters (famously) calls it's the greatest film ever made and I can sort of see where he's coming from.

soap-and-water,
it was interesting to say the least. don't know if i'd classify my reaction as mental, but it was fun to watch. it was the first russ meyer film that i've seen, so i'd definitely watch some more. i'm trying to watch a few more B-movies every now and again - build up an appreciation for them - at least the good ones. any recommendations?

Aliens! Maybe for the hell of it ET's grandpa will show up. :-P
The trailer was good though. I had recently re-watched Raiders, so man can I just say Indy sounds old?!
Loved the bit with him swinging onto the flatbed. Or at least the attempt. That's a memorable moment for any trailer. Not so excited about Shia, but maybe that'll change.

Aladdin Sane: Check out Motorpsycho (which is more in line with Faster pussycat) and UP (which is just...weird, but a whole lotta fun)
The music for the "earlier achievements"-montage in the Indy trailer was vomit-inducing. Other than that it is pretty darn sweet.

I really like this character. Still, over the years, whenever the subject of a 4th Indy film was mentioned, I cringed. But hearing the music accompanying the sight of Indy swinging through the air and landing in the truck and then delivering one of his patented funny reaction lines, I gotta admit I'm excited. Much to my surprise.

Trailer is weird. Indy with a lot of CGI. But it does have its moments. The crash back into the windshield is a highlight.
Aladdin, you can't go wrong with Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. Script by Roger Ebert and no relation whatsoever to the original. Ronnie Z-Man Barzell is second only to Tura Satana in the Meyer canon.

Sorry, but this ain't working for me. You can give Ford the funny lines, but he doesn't seem to be able to sell them any more. There used to be a wink with his delivery, and I'm not seeing it in this trailer. The stunt work seems a little desperate, Bruce WIllis in Live Free or Die Hard to me.
It will be ironic if the best thing about this film turns out to be the story that everyone was shitting on Lucas for.

I didn't love the recap stuff in the first half of the trailer (Revenge of the Sith did an okay job of this, using Alec Guiness' speech from Ep IV) but it does pick up when the fanfare kicks in.
I'll save Wells the trouble:
-You can tell the DP is Kaminsky, not Slocomb. How the film compares to the other 3 remains to be seen, but it will certainly be the milkiest.
-Ford looks just fine. I don't care if he's 70, 40 or somewhere in between.
-Based on the trailer there's more CGI than I would have expected but I'm not going to make any judgements based on the low-res viewing I just saw.
-Some nice bits and a couple of cute one-liners but maybe a few too many shots from the warehouse scene. Clearly that's the biggest non-spoiler in the movie next to the visit to Roswell.
I'm not SUPER excited but I'm not worried either. This film will be just fine, I figure.

Ya know DavidF, I think you're pretty much right on about the movie being "just fine," and that's kind of the thing I'm most worried about. I've got great memories of this franchise, and after the years of hype, speculation and Internet bickering over whether or not this would (or should) ever get made, it feels weird to see the trailer and realize that, in the end, it's pretty much just a movie. I feel like Spielberg & co. delivering anything less than a revelation will be a huge disappointment. "Just fine" ain't gonna cut it.
Watching the trailer gets me a little more excited, but I share lazarus' worry about Ford not being able to sell the character any more. He's become one of the movies' great phone-it-in type performers, and the few lines he's got in this don't do much to change that. I'm hoping for the best, but open to the possibility that we're not gonna get it.

I didn't care for how the trailer was cut. The opening retrospective with the cheesy "adventure" music diluted any nostalgia and is a cynical attempt at appealing to the younger audience who may have never seen an Indiana Jones film. Ok but then I really dig the warehouse scene-- it's great to see the return of properly shot action scenes with smooth, swooping, wide angle images vs. the shaky camera, tight close-up, unable to follow the action style that is so prevalent today. Kaminski's cinematography looks kind of blah as usual--isn't this guy capable of painting with bolder colors?

Oh, and what important, personal, quality film is Spielberg using this Indiana Jones movie to help finance? (i.e., something to make the money men happy while he does something like Pvt. Ryan or Schindler)
