The second most unfairly hated man in showbiz behind Paul Haggis has got to be David Spade. This video showed why he is my favorite comedian and has been since I was in middle school. Every one of you haters on this thread would do well to purchase Senor Spade's HBO Special Take the Hit, which is the single funniest thing I have ever seen in my life, and I hope that never changes. Call me crazy but I bleed for Spade.

C'mon, fellas. Just Shoot Me wasn't a classic sitcom or anything but it was one of the best of the 90's, and certainly on par with series like Will & Grace, plus Finch is one of the most memorable male assistants in TV or movie history. The episode where Finch poses as a high school student... brilliant. And I think it's unfair to say that Spade is nothing without Farley. They brought out the best in each other. Tommy Boy would not have been as funny with Farley and some other guy. They were a team and I hate that because Farley died young, his legend sort of overshadows Spade. Spade's sarcastic shtick may be a tad one-note but the guy is consistently hilarious as far as I'm concerned. He could read the phone book in that whiny voice of his and I'd crack up. Seriously, you need to go watch Take the Hit. An unheralded comedic gem. I've still got the original VHS recording from HBO after ten years. Attack my credibility if you want but I'm never backing off my Spade love.

Jesus christ Mirajeff, in an era with Seinfeld, Frasier and The Larry Sanders Show- Just Shoot Me and Will & Grace? Are you fucking serious? I like Spade too, but give it a rest. You're probably the bravest person ever, or the most oblivious.
I didn't laugh, chuckle, or even smile once. And I'm sort of a fan of Spade, he can be funny in the right thing. Maybe because he's not worthy of licking Daniel's jockstrap, let alone trying to ape him.
Also, I hope you guys are joking about whether he wrote this, since A) this was not for profit and B) respect and payment for online work is precisely what you're fighting for. Eisner hasn't told me anything yet.
The issue is not that this was for profit. The issue is: it's not funny. Very not funny. If he's paid for something like this after the strike is over... was it really worth fighting for?
If you want funny without paid writers...watch Conan. He just knocked it out of the park with a sketch that was only about him and an audience member running around NBC studios and trump anything that's been on late night for ages.
As I writer, I can't believe I'm saying this... but I almost wish he'd stay without writers. He's been better by himself.
"H.W. calls him Michael Gayton" made me laugh more than it probably should have.
I'm not going to tell you what I think of David Spade (really, who even cares?)
All I can say is that the website that this video is posted on is open to everyone. If any of you Spade bashers were half as funny as you obviously think you are, you would be posting your own videos to that site instead of wasting your wit here. But you don't, because you're not. You really should find something else to do with that anger.
I think this was pretty well done, but yeah, no milkshake reference is surprising. Mentioning the whole "I Drink Your Milkshake" phenomenon, I'm tired of hearing how it undermines the depth of a great film. Bullshit. I think it encompasses the "awesomeness" that is Daniel Day-Lewis' portrayal of Daniel Plainview -- over the top and twisted in the best way possible.

The best thing David Spade has ever done. Well, maybe after Alyssa Milano and Tiffani Thiessen...

Spade's looking Peter Lorre-ish. He should try a straight villain role.

MiraJeff, your credibility...please.
The guy is doing deodorant ads. Which is fine, but makes his snark look positively limp.
He was great on LARRY SANDERS tho.
