I think Spiderwick will stay as tracked... it was just annouced that the Indy 4 trailer will be on Good Morning America Thursday and then will be up on indianajones.com at 9am.
Unlike Phantom Menace, there's no need for fans to leave the house.

JUMPER had better enjoy this weekend because it's destined to fold fast. Eighty-eight minutes of flashy visuals and sloppy action that doesn't make a bit of sense. Great idea, poorly executed, with two leads that are about as exciting as plain yogurt (and a Samuel L. Jackson performance that all but says "I know this is crap, but a paycheck is a paycheck").

Tracking numbers are usually pretty terrible at predicting box office results of kids movies.

Wasn't that the point?
I thought the film was a blast.

I feel like BE KIND REWIND already opened, about 5 years ago. That can't help its numbers much.

Jumper and Spiderwick may be big and expensive, and probably crummy, but watch them both get leap-frogged by that unholy thing we all fear, the dreaded teenage dance movie! If that thing they pass off as a movie called Step Up 2 is sitting at #1, I wouldn't be shocked one bit.

no (would like to read it though), but that film, for some surprising reason, is getting great early reviews

In addition to undertracking kiddie flicks, Spiderwick will do better than the numbers indicate because the Imax houses where it's playing will both be bigger than the average theater, and will charge marginally more. While Step Up 2 will do decent business, I can't see it surpassing the original's 20M opening, which was in part driven by a lack of female fare in the marketplace--there are plenty of date night movies out there right now. Likely neck and neck between it and Definitely Maybe for the #3 slot behind Spiderwick.
Jumper will open big, but will have trouble holding against Vantage Point next weekend. And Semi-Pro looks like it's another potential solid hit for Ferrell in February.

"Spiderwick" is actually a pretty good children's fantasy film, not bad at all for what it is. It deserves to do better than "Jumper," which looks pretty standard.

I second Radewart's question above... we non-industry rubes could use a concise explanation of what the three tracking numbers mean. Thanks in advance.
