Truthout Riff

For all the lazy kneejerk Obama-dissers who've been saying that he's all hat and no cattle, a riff by Truthout's Washington, D.C. bureau chief Scott Galindez.

Anyone, Republican or Democrat, who says they're going to 'get all the troops out' of Iraq is either incompetent or a liar(and obviously not to be trusted).

Iraq is going to be our base of operations from where we fight the radical muslims for the next 50 years.

And don't even get me started on the universal health care fantasy.

And then there's:

Obama The Plagarizer. http://www.breitbart.tv/html/49024.html

Obama The Shady Land Developer. http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/124171,CST-NWS-obama05.article

Obama already breaking campaign pledges: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0307/2965.html

I'm starting to change my mind about who I'd prefer to take on in November. Obama is not ready for primetime.

I'm not saying there's fire -- but the smoke alone shows a terrible lapse in judgement on all three fronts.

When you have no resume to speak of you have to run projecting judgement, honesty, and integrity. This undercuts all three. The Clintons are about to go to town on Mr. Obama. The worm has turned. Question is: Can the liberal continue with their Obamasms and ignore this?

Christian, damn straight we haven't. And don't forget about his creepy race-obsessed church and his odd political ties and relatives in Africa.

But I do hope you all remember I said months ago that the best thing that could happen to the Democrats is a full vetting of Obama in the primary. You want this stuff out before the nomination. DO you want to be stuck with someone who can't win? Do you want buyers remorse after the warranty is up?

The problem is that the libs are so enamored with the IDEA of Obama they're in denial and don't want it shattered -- even if they nominate someone unelectable.

And Obama's campaign pledge about federal funding was stupid, and we are gonna hang it around his neck.

I'm sure that when you call Obama a plagiarist, you'll also ignore the fact that the man he "plagiarized" three lines from is a friend of his and a confidante who has already spoken about how he is honored to have Barack use his words. This race is becoming dirty and it'll just make them both look bad. The ardent supporters on both sides won't budge because of something as silly as this, so it just makes them both look foolish.

In poll after poll McCain is only a few points behind Obama, but keep in mind this is with Obama flying as high as he ever will. The media hasn't vetted him and he's hiding his hard-left positions behind flowery rhetoric.

How well will Obama do when his positions are fleshed out and he can no longer be all things to all people? As of now he's a phenom, the 2nd coming, etc... And can't break 47%???

The positon of Wells' post here is just stupid. Obama is not a man running on his record or specifics. He's running on "soaring" rhetoric.

As of today Obama is all about "what" he's going to do. The secret to beating him is forcing him to tell us "how" he's going to do it.

Noah, position papers are just that, everyone has them. But Obama's not running on that. He's running solely as a cypher of enchanted speeches and phrases.

"We are the ones we have been waiting for..." The man is pure image -- all hat -- no cattle -- not even a calf.

Neither he nor the liberal media get into any specifics. Obama is the messiah -- the second coming -- blah, blah, blah...

And I'm telling you that as Democrats you should want this all out now. The problem is that you don't want to hear it. You don't want the dream to ever end. Well, better now than in the general election.

I don't get it. You're telling me that he's a cypher of enchanted speeches, but I'm pointing you to a website that outlines his positions on everything. So, if I agree with his positions and I like the way he plans on accomplishing his goals, then what? I don't give a shit about his speeches, I care about his ideas and what he plans to do for the country. I like his health care plan better than Hillary. Those things aren't a "dream" that I don't want to end, those are solid ideas that I can stand behind.

We don't want the dream to ever end because it's like walking out into the fresh air after occupying an opium den for 24 hours straight.

People are sick of the nightmarish, fear mongering, greedy, lying sack of shit government they're currently living under.

Until you show me a link that actually has pictures of Obama smoking crack while he rapes a horse, I'm not going to care, because it's all good by comparison.

Let me put it this way Dirty Harry, you always suggest that it doesn't really matter how many lives are ruined by us in Iraq, because they're much better off than they were under their previous ruler.

Well there you go...there's a perfectly legitimate response to not only everything Obama has done, but could probably ever do.

Not that anything you said was even remotely true, but that would be a great defense BENTS if Obama was running against me or W, but he's not.

And, hey, your guy may float on his fairy dust all the way to election night, but he may not, and for Democrats to not want him vetted before it's too late to make a better choice is just stupid.

I honestly don't want him vetted beforehand. I'd rather see the Swift boaters come out firing from the hip because unlike Kerry, I think he's goign to have the balls to call a spade and spade and let the people know what's bullshit.

And what was untrue about what I said?

The idea that you defend the US killing Iraqis by saying Saddaam killed more? Or the idea that most of the country is sick of the way things are going?

Between 27% and 33% of the country approving of the job the President is doing isn't usually a good sign of their optimism in the system.

But you're right, technically, my "defensive" implications aren't applicable to strictly Obama. I'm not afraid to say that despite McCain being Bush Lite, he would more than likely be a breath of fresh air too.

Probably not for long though.

All politicians -- ALL politicians make promises. Does anybody remember Geo. Bush stated he wasn't into "nation" building, meaning he didn't want to build up another nation; but there you have it -- Iraq is being rebuilt. I can remember so many promises during presidential campaigns and when it goes before our leaden congress it gets shot down. Obama has some good ideas like the 401k plan is a keeper. I believe that companies should mandate (which some are doing) that employees have a 401K plan; but the government match is "new" and it's a step towards ridding the country of SS gradually getting into a private fund.

There's an interesting hypothetis that Gore is coming to the rescue and if he does, I'm on board.

When you come down to it, it doesn't matter whose in the white house because they're going to go by their advisors decisions...look at Bush he turned to the neocons for his decision making...poor guy. If all this bickering continues between the Dems, a lot of people will just stay home and vote with their remote control.

You know something, Dirty Harry? You're very bright but extremely rancid at heart. I don't figure how a guy with so much acid in his system would want to hang out on a liberal-minded site that's founded upon movie worship. I'm really not sure I want to wade through all your seething Obama hate for the next 8 and 1/2 or nine months. I like reasonable minded righties who are upfront about their selfishness and greed and lack of trust of anything governmental. I respect libertarians and admire Ron Paul. But there are more than a few right-of-center types out there who are standing with Obama these days, and I really don't know if I want the constant abrasion of a hater like yourself scraping at my daily consciousness. Why do you hang out there? Isn't there someplace else where you might feel more at home?

I think of Hollywood Elsewhere as a big comfortable house with a lot of people and a bunch of high-def flatscreens and something always playing with food and drink on all the tables. A place to hang and relax and shoot the shit. But if a guy comes along and all he does is rag, rag, rag on the prevailing political current, and when the vibe is fairly free-for-all but not overly hard-assed and anti-liberal and sure as shit not anti-Barack, I'm probably going to go over to this guy and say, "Look, man...you're pushin' too hard and messin' with the mood."

Get what I'm saying? I basically don't want the company of a rabid right-wing pisshead, and I'm certainly not offering an endless open-door policy to this sort of person. No offense but I don't like guys like you on a 24/7 basis. Now and then for amusement, okay, but all the time...? Life is short, man. There, I've said it. I sure as hell would never try to hang out on a movie site populated by a bunch of McCain guys or Bush lovers who love certain films.

Iraq is going to have to split into three counties -- deal with it, live with it. You and your absolutist 100-year-war attitude about the Middle East occupation and subjugation is grotesque and diseased. The invader cannot last. The local biological organisms will drive him out, pollute his system, make him weak. It''s a law of nature, and you're too dumb or stubborn to realize it. It's very tiring and tedious having to listen to your rightist crap, day in and day out.
