U.S. News political analyst Michael Barone "took a Washington Post-ABC Poll showing Hillary Clinton with a seven-point lead in Ohio and tried to figure out what that would mean in terms of the delegate breakdown," reports the Cincinatti Enquirer's Howard Wilkinson.

"He concluded that if Clinton won Ohio by seven percentage points, she'd probably end up with only nine more delegates here than Barack Obama -- not enough to cut significantly into Obama's lead in the delegate count."

And yet John C. Green, a political scientist at the University of Akron, said that "while a Clinton win by a small margin might not do her much good in the race for delegates, it could make it possible for her to carry on her struggling campaign. 'She gets a psychological boost, but it wouldnÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t make much difference in the overall delegate count,' said Green. 'You'd really have to blow the other candidate out of the water to get a delegate advantage in Ohio.'"

I don't know, Jeff: I think the Dems need to nominate someone who's willing to pick up a friggin' meat axe every day of the campaign, and say, "OK, McCain, I'm gonna chop you again!" And then turn around to Fox News loonies and other Rightie stooges and say, "And then I'm going after your sorry asses!" Now, do you think Obama can do this?

Joe: If the best come-back she can think of is "right-wing conspiracy", I doubt she'll be able to stand up to those fascists. Hell, look how many times she's had to save face against Obama. She's tenacious, I'll give you that. But she's also proven that she'll crack if enough leverage is used against her. Obama has taken worse, and come out more successful than Kerry and Gore. I think the choice is clear, assuming the few states which haven't voted yet want that choice...

Obama has been caught in a pretty big lie over this NAFTA / Canada meeting issue...it has evidently drawn blood and is hurting him in Ohio.

Really the first major misstep by Obama in the campaign, and it looks like a self-inflicted wound, an unforced error - and this is exactly why Hillary will stay in the race no matter what happens today.
