Mafioso (The Criterion Collection, 3.18.2008) Nino Badalamenti is a supervisor in a car manufacturing plant who hasn't taken a vacation in over two years. On his way out the door to visit his beloved childhood hometown of Sicily -- with his blonde wife and daughters -- Nino is handed a package by his boss and asked to deliver it to a powerful and influential Sicilian gangster named Don Vincenzo. Once in Sicily, Nino has a hoot seeing friends and family, but his wife has trouble fitting in and is unfairly dismissed as a snob by Nino's family. Even more worrisome, Nino finds himself entangled in an intricate web of secret mafioso dealings and is eventually sent on an unexpectedly... elaborate errand. (continued)

"If I Misspoke..."

"No, I went to 80 countries, you know. I gave contemporaneous accounts, I wrote about a lot of this in my book. you know, I think that, a minor blip, you know, if I said something that, you know, I say a lot of things -- millions of words a day -- so if I misspoke, that was just a misstatement." The fourth time on this topic, in fact.

Maybe the world would be better if we only had more greeting ceremonies and sing-a-longs? If Hillary is elected this country deserves everything it is going to get.

Say what you will, but Sinbad's take on this was pretty funny. It was something along the lines of, "So, you have an area that the President decides is too dangerous to visit. So what does he do? He sends his wife and young daughter instead! And for protection he sends along a guitar player and a comedian!"

If HIlary Clinton had been hustled off to the cars under sniper fire a decade ago, wouldn't there be Americans who remembered it? I think that if the First Lady and First Daughter had to make a break for it under sniper fire, that would be sufficiently unusual to prove memorable.

Hilary made the mistake early on of hiring her husband's advisers and trying to run like him. This is a case of her paying for it.

This is very bad for her. Didn't she know the event was being taped? Didn't she know the tape was still around? K. Bowen I agree with you. She can't run like Bill; no one can. She looks bad. Obama is looking better to me. Now if the media starts reporting about McCain's questionable associations with various religious people, that would help. If McCain and Obama do debate, If I was Obama, the first thing I would ask him is if he knew who was training al-quaeda.

It's not that they lie, it's what they lie about. Are they trying to push through a policy that I approve of? Go ahead an lie, dammit. Are they trying to transfer trillions from the budget to their cronies, killing 4k US soldiers in the process? Um, no, I'm not in favor of that kind of lying.
Hilary's policies, I mostly approve of them, but she's still an unelectable monster.

I wish Al Gore and John Edwards would endorse Obama now and get the situation settled. I thought it unbelievable that the Democrats could lose this time, but it looks more and more likely, even as McCain bumbles his way through senior moments and tries to learn about economy. Unbelievable

...cue Mark Knophler's music from "Wag the dog". I love watching the comedic desperation of someone who’s tantalizing approximation to the goal they feel is theirs by divine right is slipping away by the slimmest of margins. My daily Schaudenfrade requirement is currently being met by Ms. Clintons Kabuki like contortions of character; she has to know that her sociopathic story-arc is coming to a close. The thing that I find sad is watching Bill Clinton replace the sepia-toned memories of his presidency with the currant image of a deluded fool who has tenuous grip on decorum. He has become one of the biggest miscalculations of Hillary’s campaign.

Sounds like a reasonable perspective to me...

If someone has ever been under sniper fire in their lives, it isn't something that you forget or misspeak about. This is just a case of her trying so hard to be the person she thinks she is, when she clearly isn't ever going to be.

And there's nobody less funny than Sinbad. I remember during the LA riots he went on Arsenio Hall and said, "I'd be doing the same thing."

I would argue that being the wife of a president is potentially dangerous, as Jackie O., Betty Ford and Nancy Reagan can attest

Well Jeff as we get closer to June, I have to admit that I don't have faith in Barack pulling this off. He's a media darling, a smart brilliant man who can fight for change if he wins -- but he won't. You know why? the White house is reserved for White Protestant Males (and maybe females)....and like Rush stated -- "they won't let a Black woman be a first lady"....yep, that's the honest to god's truth. If anything I think Barack has opened doors for the next non-white candidate whether that's hispanic or Asian, but for now, they will do whatever they can to keep him from winning the primary and the office. It just won't happen! If he had to depend on the "now" generation he would win. But he has to win over the stodgy "past" generation, and the past generation is comfortable with the U.S. fighting wars and having high inflation. As much pain as it is causing americans, believe me, they do not want to give up the White house to a "colored" man.

All this nonsense about here being more ready than Barack on Day One and her "35 years of experience" is just a load of horseshit. She handpicked a state in which it would be easy for her to win (New York) and she got into the Senate in 2001. By my math that is 7 years of experience, not 35. The problem with her lies is that she is trying to make it sound like being First Lady was like being Jack Bauer. These are her own words and is much more damaging to her than Rev. Wright was to Obama.
