Having recently dealt with a somewhat similar situation myself regarding a family member, I'm very sorry for poor Patrick Swayze, his family, and his friends and colleagues. Obviously a hell of a thing to deal with. I'm very, very sorry.

Terrible news indeed. Was really surprised how the online community has been so thoughtful and genuinely upset with this news. Heard he had really started to turn the career around with his new show too. This sucks. Dalton rules!

May God bless Patrick Swayze with some kind of miracle. He has always seemed to me an exceedingly hard worker, someone who could have easily been relegated to the dustbin of entertainment history, but has always been possessed with a certain intensity that separated him from the other run of the mill pretty boy actors. Not many actors create an iconic character, and Swayze did just that with Dalton. He gave Roadhouse his all, and along with the gonzo script, is responsible for elevating that movie to cult status. That he has largely been M.I.A. for the last ten years has more to do with the 8th Grade Popular Girl Fickle Mentality of the Goons who work in Hollywood and less to do with his ability. I know that had he been able to live longer than 55 years he would've made a comeback. I'm going to say a prayer for Patrick Swayze and I'm not kidding when I say that. I think we all should. Kind of like collective Homeopathic Medicine.

What terrible news. Obviously, my heart goes out to the guy. Hope he can fight this awful disease off.
Jeff - Forgive me for prying, but what similar experience did you endure recently? Infinite congratulations if you've battled cancer and won. Anyone who's went face to face with with this fucking killer is automatically a badass, and deserves to ride a motorcycle all they want to confirm that irrefutable fact.
Seriously, glad you're okay, and hope Swayze has a similar outcome.

This is very sad and awful. Parenthetically, and probably inappropriately, but in my two decades in Hollywood, Swayze has been the only celebrity I've dealt with who was a true jerk. But that's just personal experience and doesn't blunt the sadness of the news.

It is terrible, but there has been misquotes out there. here's a great recent quote from his DR and that his treatment is going well and patrick has projects lined up:

A class act from what I can tell. A shame his career was in the state it was in. I wish someone like Tarantino had given him an oppurtunity to shine again. I guess Richard Kelly came closest. I also thought he did fine work in GREEN DRAGON with Forest Whitaker.
Still, his performance as Bodhi in POINT BREAK rings absolutely true to me and was charismatic as all hell. Let's pull for him to get as much time with his family as he's able. Really just way too soon.

If there is any fate worse than terminal cancer on this earth, I have to come across it or learn of its existence. For his and his family's sake, I hope it's quick and as pain-free as possible.
