Hamlet 2 Red

The red-band trailer for Andrew Fleming's Hamlet 2 (Focus, 8.22.08), which did pretty well for itself at Sundance '08. It's about an eccentric high-school-drama teacher (Steve Coogan) enlisting his Tucson, Arizona, students as he conceives and stages a politically incorrect musical sequel to William Shakespeare's Hamlet. Costarring Catherine Keener, Amy Poehler, David Arquette and Elisabeth Shue.

Hamlet 2 is this year's "Napoleon Dynamite." Depending on your taste, that's either a good thing or a bad thing.

I didn't like "Napoleon D." but this looks rather intriguing. It's great to see Elizabeth Shue doing some work. It's a shame she didn't get more action after her Oscar-nom performance in "Leaving Las Vegas". She's got talent.

The birthdate entry field won't accept my birthday. Stupid form...do they not want people to watch the trailer? Why do I have to give them my name and zip? Lame.

Abbey - you should be more concerned about the fact that they have data base somewhere that does have your name, age and zip code.

Abbey, youtube has it too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqeCYJ1GJyo

Being in Canada, that form thing is a crock. Sometimes you can fake it easily and other times, not so much. Why do they even bother? This is the internet - everything can be found if you really want to find it.

"Hamlet 2" is funnier than "Napoleon Dynamite." But I hope they come up with a better tagline than this one.

"Hamlet 2" is not funnier than "Napoleon Dynamite" because that would imply that "Napoleon Dynamite" was actually funny.

I had to sign in so I could watch Steve Coogan yell fuck at a cat?

Saw it at Sundance. The movie is hilarious, and if "Tropic Thunder" is as good as people say it is, Steve Coogan (who was great on an episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" last year) is poised to make a huge splash this summer.

Great comeback role for Elisabeth Shue as well (she could be the Diane Lane of the summer).

There aren't that many films this year that I am really looking forward to seeing, but this is one of them.
