Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (Paramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008) Disguised under deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such as Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reeves' Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year's incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad to the film's viral marketing campaign, Cloverfield had everybody scratching their heads and drooling in anticipation. Aside from the as-yet untitled title and the Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film's biggest appeal was the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty onto the crowded streets of New York City. All we knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Now that the highy-anticipated project has come and gone, one question has fortunately been answered: Cloverfield was a major success. (continued)

No Doubting Milk

A reliable friend in the creative community (i.e., no suspicious agenda) has written two things in response to the 2008 roundup piece: (a) "I'm hearing Doubt is really good and a likely Oscar contender" and (b) "Also hearing excellent things about things about Milk. Everyone is flipping out about how great Sean Penn is."

I'd say MILK is the easiest thing to bet on right now. You're right in saying the documentary makes everyone cry. When I first saw it in college everyone came out loving it, including me. It's a great story, film wise.

If Josh Brolin nails the White role and Bush in W. he will have had the coolest 2 year hot streak for an actor.

This kind of shit never flies. I heard from so and so - everyone has an agenda -- ESPECIALLY this early in the game. Who the hell are they hearing good things from? The director? A crew member? A publicist? Please. If I had a dolla for every one of these false leads....

"dolla"? Everytime I feel bad for goofing on Zimmergirl, she goes and writes another retarded post like this one.

Right back at you, George Prager. Good thing I never read your dumbass comebacks. Good thing there's the internet to give you a forum to doll out the verbal abuse, or you might have to live with the fact that you are otherwise irrelevant. At best.

And don't feel bad for goofing on me - really, it's okay. I've gotten a lot worse on these boards.
