Every so often matters that don't immediately concern or feed into the writing of the column gather mass and force like a huge wave swell. It doesn't seem like much at first, but then the wave starts to break big-time and the roar becomes louder and louder and before you know it you're being slammed and knocked upside down and gasping with water up your nose. This happens every so often. You cope with it as best you can. Not the end of the world, but it eats the day.

Consolation prize: whatever is going on in your life can never match the misery that is the film NORTH SHORE.

Here's an idea for a future piece...
Paramount Pictures has licensed a butt-load of library titles to Legend Films for release in early June. Titles include: Mandingo, The One and Only, The Possession of Joel Delaney, Framed, Lumet's Daniel, The Whoopee Boys, Won Ton Ton: The Dog Who Saved Hollywood, Serial, Baby It's You, Hurricane (the remake), Jekyll & Hyde: Together Again, and many others.
There are, maybe, three or four of the titles on this list I would purchase, but the question is: where the f is The Friends of Eddie Coyle?
Won Ton Won, but no Coyle?

How dare you!
I have a real soft spot for that movie, silly as it is.

I have a bad cold, but would like to go back to work.
I really hate not working, as I feel like a failure.

My uncle Joe Teipel was in NORTH SHORE, or so the legend goes.

WHITE DOG as well? Or maybe Criterion can get Paramount to license it to them.
